epidural that did not work
Did this happen to anyone? I gave birth in October and three hours after they gave me epidural I felt everything. I spoke with a friend that just gave birth and she felt nothing but a little bit of pressure. I felt everything.

Mine worked and I just needed them to top it off at one point because I started feeling contractions. The dr. did it 1-2-3- and it wasn't a problem at all.

My epidural worked great. But, unfortunately for my room mate in the hospital, who had a c-section it did not work. They had to put her under general anesthesia.
My lamaze instructor did tell us that sometimes the epidural only works on one side and that you should try and move around to get it to work.

Mine worked wonderfully, though I have heard of this happing to some people. My understanding is has to do with the skill level of the person putting it in. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

same here. Although it worked, at one point the had to come in and give me a little more because I started feeling contractions.

Mine didn't work at ALL. They put in a ton because they didn't get why it wasn't working and then I was numb from my thighs down! I ended up needing a C section, so they got another person to redo the epi and as soon as she saw the old one she said that it didn't work because it wasn't put in the right place!

With my first I felt nothing but pressure. With my second I felt it all as she was coming out. The contractions weren't THAT bad on the epi, but still painful with her.

My epidural only worked on my right side and then when I hit the point to start pushing, they gave me an extra boost and then I felt no contractions but EVERYTHING "down there".

When I had DS my epi didn't work at all and I wound up having to have general due to a c-section. With DD I had a spinal and it was fine, just made me very nauseous

I had a spinal for my c/s and although it worked in the beginning, it wore off early and I felt them stitching me up on my right side. I kept saying to them that I felt something but I don't think they thought I was feeling that!

My first c-section was with a epidural..and I felt everything...My second c-section I had a spinal...and I swear I didn't feel a thing...just a little pressure when she came out...

With my first son I had the same experience you did. I felt EVERYTHING! With my 2nd son I felt nothing but pressure. I actually had to wait to push b/c at one point I wasn't even feeling the pressure.

My first labor it didn't work. They told me they couldn't redo it and I felt EVERYTHING!
My second labor went too fast so I did it drug free.
My third labor it worked, then I started feeling pain, they said it slipped out. I was 8 cm and I asked them to redo it. They redid it and it was heaven! I was laughing and talking while I pushed and I enjoyed my labor so much! It was so amazing watching my daughter being born and not being in pain.

by the time I got mine I was nearly 9cm and still felt pain. They gave me a little more drugs and by that time I had to push (I dilated like lightning) and couldn't feel a thing, not good!

Thanks for all the feedback. I thought I was the only one this happened to. I just remember 3 hours after getting it, it wore off ( I was switching sides like they told me). I told the nurse but they did not do anything. The doctor came in later and added to it which did nothing. The only time I got pain relief was when they stiched me up.

by the time they decided to give me a c-section my epidural as working only in certain areas.
I had feeling in areas of my lower abdomen and legs so I was knocked out without any notice. I told them I felt the touch of a tool to my stomach and next thing I knew dh was next to me holding ds.
Not a great experience.
