What is Lap Surgery??
What is Lap. Surgery, and why is it done??
I keep seeing people have it done.

I believe you have it done when you have endometriosis.
The lap is done to remove the scar tissue rom places it does not belong.

laproscopic surgery is any surgery done with small incisions to minimize scarring and pain. Endo surgery is done this way through your belly button and a small incision along the bikini line (my sister had it for exploratory reasons, my best friend had it for endo, I had it for my gallbladder)

I had laparoscopy in early January to see if I had endometriois .. which I did, and was removed .. I probably would have had an even more difficult time TTC if I had not bee correctly diagnosed with this condition, since it can hinders conception if the endo is severe
What was stressed by my RE is that I really should try to get PG as soon as possible , within a year preferably .. since the endo does return and I'd have to have the procedure again .. and I really dont want to have to do that 
Shana described basically what the surgery entails, its more uncofortable for a few days than painful at ALL

For me, I probably had endometriosis my entire adult life but the only time I suspected something might be wrong was when (a) I was trying to get PG since July of last year , my cycles were very regular at that time, but we were having no luck .. and (b) my periods and PMS leading up to them was getting increasingly painful, to the point where I needed to take a day off work (and that had NEVER happened before) I was referred to an RE who thought I might have endo, but the lap procedure is done to diagnose (its the only way you can accurately diagnosed Endo) When then went in, they saw I did have endo and removed it at that time ..
As I said, this might have been preventing me from getting PG .. it certainly wasn't helping matters.. but I might very well have other issues as well, since the endo is now gone and I still cannot get PG thus far. The big catch (according to my RE) is to try and get preggo BEFORE giving the endo a chance to return, and I'm really trying on that!!
Some ladies have SEVERE endo and never have any symptoms, whereas others have very minor endo with horrible symptoms.. its a very strange thing indeed

I have endo also...and have always known. I've had awful periods since I was 15. At 16 I had the surgery. Since then I've kept it mostly at bay with the pill and pain killers. Its been getting worse over the past year (I got tested for tubular pregnancy at the ER last year b/c the pain was so bad) and will need surgery again. I am holding off until we're ready to get preg b/c of what Felicia said about it coming back. The ideal time to ttc will be right after surgery.

I just wanted to say, that felicia...couldn't have said it better .....there truly is no way of ever knowing you have 'endo' unless...you have a Lap done.
