When to tell stepchild I'm pregnant?

We are not sure when to tell my 5 year old stepson about our twins. He has already told me a hundred times he wants daddy and I to "grow a baby" for him (LOL) so I know he will be thrilled... but I don't want to tell him too early either... not to mention, once we tell him, we have to tell his mom too (Nothing wrong with her, and we get along, but still, if something were to God forbid go wrong, it's not something I'd particularly want to share with her).

We are thinking of waiting until we find out the sex and telling him then, although with twins, I may not be able to hide it that long as I"m pretty small and already starting to pop a little bit in my 11th week.

When did you/would you tell your stepchildren (or any children for that matter)?

I responded on PG also- but we told my SD at the 12 week mark and she was 7 at the time ...

We told my SS's when I was just about 12 weeks. They were 7 and 6 at the time.

When you feel comfortable and you feel the time is right. Congratulations, BTW!!

We told SS before everyone else but after the visit that we hear/saw the heartbeat. I think I was around 8 weeks. I had an early sonogram because my pregancy test at the doc was light. He was 9.

We told my 3 SKs when I was 16 weeks. They were sooo excited and now that DD is here they are in LOVE with her!!
