Would you say something?
So a few months ago, my friend emails me that her friend from NJ was selling old baby itmes that were "like new" including a papasan swing, which I decided to buy.
I never met my friend's friend who lives in NJ, but trusted her when she emailed me saying that the swing was in perfect condition, in the box, etc.
I even just paid the first price she asked because I felt wierd negotiating in that situation. This probably makes it worse because I didn't feel like it was the best deal for something used, but knew that it was still cheaper than buying it in the store.
So now we get the swing and the frame part is thrown in the crushed up box, disasembled with no instructions. But the worst part...I just took the seat part out of the plastic bag to wash the cover and it was ripped! Not just a little, but like torn like a dog ripped it or something and then someone did a poor job of sewing it together, so they obviously knew about it!
So would you say something to your friend or just say nothing?
I would normally just say nothing and go buy a new one (i am even nervous to put this thing together and put a new baby in it), but it really pi$$ed me off!

I would say something - that's not right - Your friend did HER friend a favore by finding someone to purchase items which she trusted to be 'like new' .......there's no reason you should have to be ripped off like that and keep your mouth shut -
I don't know if you'll get anything back from her, but I don't think you should have to keep quiet like a fool either -

I'd absolutely say something. You're being played for a fool. She's probably laughing that she was able to sell that piece of junk for a decent price.

Re: Would you say something?
Thanks ladies. I will say something..especially because, I just looked on the BBB website and could buy it new for the same price! Wow do I feel silly. It was a little more expensive to buy new when I bought it from her.
The other option...I just checked my old emails and found the email from the girl, so I could email her directly and not get my friend ivolved. What do you think?

Re: Would you say something?
I would email the NJ woman directly! Wouldn't want my friend to feel bad about the situation, it isn't her fault.
That's just so rude, the nerve of some people!!

Re: Would you say something?
I would be really annoyed but probably not demand my money back. I think it would put your friend in an awkward situation. I'd just go out and buy a new one.

I would definitely say something!! I think you should email the seller directly. I would demand my money back, as the item is clearly not in the condition she claimed. If she refuses, then I would involve your friend.

Re: Would you say something?
How did you pay for it? By check? Maybe put a stop payment on the check if she didn't cash it yet. That is really horrible that she did that, especially if she's friends with your friend. I would definitely get in touch with her telling her that the swing is not in the kind of condition you want to put your newborn in, considering that it's damaged.
Good luck!
