Does anyone have a herniated disc in their neck?
What do you do to help with the pain? I know I should be going to PT but I just dont have the time or I just dont have anyone to watch DS so I can go 
I wake up every morning with a stiff neck and need to take a hot shower to loosen it up. By the time it is tiem to go to bed it is killing me again. lately it hurts to pick up DS or even when I was carrying my pocketbook on my shouler. The last few days my arms have been getting weird tingling feelings which I am associated with the disc in my neck b/c my neurologist said it is hitting a nerve and stress can make it worse. Luckily I got back for a followup with my neurologist next week. I had that nerve test done and they didnt find any nerve damage which i guess is a good sign.

I have a few herniated discs in my neck. I go to the chiropracter as much as I can. Some days I cannot move the pain in so bad.
I am going to go to a neurologist and see what else can be done.

my DH had 2 really bad ones
he hands would go numb, he couldn't move, sleep, do anything
he ended up get both fused - after years of PT, all kinds of shots
it changed everything for the better
ETA- he just had the last operation 2 months ago- and he hasn't lost any movement in his neck at all- he has a really good doctor - if you want his info

I remember reading your stories about DH and his surgeries. I am HOPE I am far away from having to have any type of surgery but at the same time I can't stand living with this pain. The neurologist did tell me stay away from the chiropractor...he says when it involves the neck he likes to be very cautious. I will have to give PT another shot. What kind of shots did he get? I am going back for a follow up in a few weeks so would like to be aware of some of my options to discuss with him.
Beth, if you can FM me the name of DH's doctor that would be helpful as well. Is his dr. a neurologist or another type of dr? It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion.

I just went through this last year ... including the numbness and tingling in my fingers. It was awful 
The nerve test I had did show damage, and I ended up taking oral steroids for a while. That relieved the pressure on the nerve. I haven't really had pain since, just an occasional stiff neck that goes away after a few days.

Not in my neck but I have a badly herniated L5/S1 disc in my lower back. It's truly awful, and the only thing I can say is, don't let it go. Make sure you get it taken care of.

I go to the chiropractor all the time, just to keep in aligned as best as I can. I had a diving accident when I was 12 years old. My neck will never be the same. Sometimes it takes me too long between appointments and I start feeling that tingling in my pniky and ring fingers.

Pain is different for everyone and the relief from pain can be also. That said, my own preferred pain relief methods are massage therapy and chiropractic. I have multiple neck problems, one of which is something I was born with. I did not find a lot of relief from physical therapy. I've taken Celebrex and Flexeril but I hate the side effects.
