NEED ADVICE: My Stepson figured it out....

My 5 year old stepson is WAY too smart. We have not told him we're expecting, but he must hear us talking about twins when we "THINK" he is not paying attention... because, he went to see his mom for New Year's Eve and told her that we are going to have twins. She says he was very excited and asked me straight out if I'm pregnant with twins. I'm in my 11th week right now and didn't want to tell my SS or his mother until after the end of my first trimester at the very earliest... so I wasn't sure what to say!

I ended up telling her that twins run in my family and that we are planning on having more kids this year and that he must overhear us and be putting things together on his own. I also said that I would not want to tell my SS too early and then have something terrible happen and have to disappoint him, so that when we do have news to share, we will be thrilled to tell both my SS and her as well.

Do you think it was OK for me to handle it this way? I have a sono at 12.5 weeks and didn't want to tell them until after that, especially because this pregnancy is considered high-risk.... Or do you think I need to tell her now?

Tell her whenever you feel comfortable. Don't feel pressured into telling her now. She suspects anyway, so she can wait a few more weeks
