New here- it's long-
Hello everyone- happy new year. My name is Stephanie and I just found this site. After reading some post, I realized I want to join this group. Everyone is just SO supportive and I feel you ladies are the only ones who truly understand what I (WE) are all going thru-
My story: I have unexplained IF- I thought it was just stress, my period stopped one day, this was due to work ( I thought I was going to be fired, I still don't know, I am a teacher, long story) I did 3 iui=BFN,then I did one fresh ivf- it was a chemical. Then I did FET=bfn
JUST THIS SUMMER I DID ANOTHER FRESH IVF+ PREGNANT WITH TWINS, I MISCARRIED ONE AT 9 WEEK'S, I WAS SO UPSET. ONLY TO GO ON AND MISCARRY MY OTHER AT 15 WEEK'S, IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I WILL SPARE EVERYONE THE DETAILS, I JUST RECIEVED MY GENETICS REPORT BACK, THE SECOND TWIN WAS A GIRL, WITH DOWN SYNDROME. After GETTING THIS REPORT BACK, CHANGES EVERYTHING FOR ME- IT MAKES ME EVEN MORE SAD- I WISH I NEVER KNEW WHY THIS HAPPENED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS , I AM ONLY 37 - I NEVER EXPECTED THIS TO HAPPEN. I DID EVERY TEST POSSIBLE.I HAVE 8 FROZEN EMBROYS LEFT AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. I AM AFRAID TO TRY AGAIN.
I GO TO LI-IVF AND Dr.bRENNER IS MY DOCTOR. THANKS FOR LISTENING.. sorry about the caps

Stephanie:
Sorry to welcome you to the board You said that you have done all types of testing but you did not mention whether you did PGD on the embreyos you have frozen. My last IVF cycle resulted in a chemical/ectopic? =they dont know. I chose this time to go forward with PGD. It will detect chromosomal defects (including downs). it is a lot of money to spend out of pocket but I feel it will be worth it in the long run especially if it will give me more insight as to what is going on chromosomally with regard to misscarriage and poor implantation, etc.
FM if you need any info

Hi Stepanie. This isn't a place any of us ever wanted to be, but we are in this together and we make the best of it. The women on here are the most amazing, supportive group in the whole world.
I am sorry for what you have been through already and sincerely hope that your stay here is short. I agree with Domino who suggested PGD testing.

Re: New here- it's long-
First of all, let me say how sorry I am for your losses...and that you have to join this board.
Secondly, I agree with the idea of PGD, although I'm not sure you can do it with the embies that are frozen. I would however, ask to have a recurrent miscarriage panel run. This is a simple blood test that can be done at any time in your cycle. Based on the results from that, I would discuss with Dr. B what your options are - wether it be another IVF cycle with PGD or transferring the embies you have.

Sorry about your losses. How awful
Welcome and we're here to answer all your questions (obviously if we can).
I agree with other posters. PGD could be the answer. Were you tested for clotting disorders? What about immune testing? There are tons of tests that can and should be run before you TTC again.
Lots of luck to you and I hope your stay is short

Re: New here- it's long-
Sorry to hear your story. I also was a pt at LIIVF. If I were you, I would thaw all 8, do PGD and transfer back 2 "normal" ones and refreeze any remaining "normal". This way you would avoid another miscarriage by knowing in advance about any abnormals. Good Luck to you. Elise :)

Re: New here- it's long-
Thank you everyone for your advice. I have an appt. with Dr. B on the 15th. I have planned on asking him about running more tests. Does anyone know if my frozen embroys can be sent out for pgd testing? Or do I need to stim again? TIA Stephanie

I'm not positive about this but I believe there are 2 ppl here who are doing PGD on their embryos and both of them last cycle (stim cycles) needed/wanted to make more embryos so they felt as though doing PGD was worth it... the didn't want to invest all of that $$$ for just a few embryos. To my knowledge they are both doing a 2nd fresh cycle, with the goal that after their retrievals they will combine both last cycle and this cycle's embryos and do PGD- so hopefully one of them will contact you or could answer your question.

Re: New here- it's long-
You can do PGD onthe frozen, my friend did it and they told her she needed at least 6, so if you have 8, that sounds like a good enough #. Or if you want to do a fresh to add to the batch, I would probably do it only if my insurance covered the fresh cycle. Good Luck! Elise

Re: New here- it's long-
I sent an FM, but if your insurance pays for it, I would do another fresh cycle and "batch" the fresh and the frozen together to be PGD tested, so you get more for your money.
Good luck!
