If you don't have permanant certification (after 2004?ish) than you need 175 (?) professional development hours, every 5 (?) years to keep your certification valid

I have initial certification
(I have a masters in education but my bachelors degree is in something else)
What kinds of courses are these? Are they college courses that you pay for?

Im a NYC teacher and I spoke to the UFT rep and she told me those 175 hours of continuing PD are counted into our new contract....
Im getting nervous now
I took in service credits for my +30- I hope that counts!!!!! - I called the doe and they told me it did but you know how you cant be too sure with them....

Can we get the 175 credits anytime in the 5 years? Also, is this EVERY 5 years for the rest of our career?????

From what I understood its 175 HOURS of continuing education every 5 years because that is how often you need to re-apply for your certification... I dont think its 175 credits...
Im sorry to confuse you
I took 30 extra in service CREDITS to count as my plus 30 (above my masters) not torwards my certification...
