Does anybody in Suffolk County Know a Good Grievance Company To Lower My Property Tax?
I just moved from Nassau County to CI and can't find a Suffolk County website to lower my taxes myself. My lawyer at the clsoing said I could would be entitled to a property tax reduction because the house is assessed at 340,000 and I paid 220,000. She reccomended Mark Lewis - Good Grievance and Tax Reduction Services.
I couldn't find the first guy on the internet, I found the Good Grievance on google and they agree to represent you for 35% of the savings and if they don't win it costs nothing, the last guy takes 50% of what they save you.
The Good Grievance guy said that I could file myself but I couldn't find a website for Suffolk County.
Does anybody know how much the first guy charges and can I do it myself?

I'm not clear on what you are asking, but if it's how much Mark Lewis charges, it's 50% of the reduction in your 09/10 taxes.
It's listed in here
can't link it for some reason copy and paste into your browser

You can file the grievance on your own. It's really very easy. You go to the Tax Assessor's office and complete the form. I did it at the Town of Brookhaven's TA office and the staff there was really helpful. It took me *maybe* 30 minutes to get in and out. If you do it yourself, the money you save stays with you.

Re: Does anybody in Suffolk County Know a Good Grievance Company To Lower My Property Tax?
we used TRS.
ours was denied at first (house assessed at over $100K more than we paid), so they did the small claims process for us.
it cost us half of the reduction, plus a small ($40?) filing fee for court. we didn't have to go to anything.
Imo it was worth using them bc I didnt have to go to court or anything!
and I got a $1800 reduction!

Re: Does anybody in Suffolk County Know a Good Grievance Company To Lower My Property Tax?
Thanks for the help guys. I chose the Company Good Grievance. I paid a one time enrollment cost of $399.00 and I get to keep everything they save - every year. Since my savings are almost $2,400 the first year I am actually saving $2,000 grand the first year.
They just did a free appraisal and they will update the value every year and if their database determines I am over-taxed again on the assessed value they will notify me and file again for free.
They also had a licensed insurance agent reduce my homeowners insurance by $240 bucks a year. For $400 bucks I've already saved $2,200.
Some of my neighbors joined too. It seems the whole area is a mess over here.
Thanks for the help gang. This is a cool site!
