Yo Gabba Gabba?

Is Yo Gabba Gabba appropriate for a 16 month old to watch?

DD only watches Sesame Street a few times a week and I want to add another show. Is Yo Gabba Gabba a good one?

Any other suggestions?

Personally, I am not a big fan of Yo Gabba Gabba. DD is 18 months old and aside from Sesame Street, she likes to watch the Wiggles (which I'm not sure is even on anymore, we usually watch the DVD's) and Jack's Big Music Show.

I'd suggest Jack's Big Music Show. DS is a BIG fan. He even has the songs on his MP3 player. Chat Icon

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

DD and DS love YGG. They are 1 1/2 and 2 1/2.

It is very weird, but when they watch it they get up and dance and move around.

Cailen has loved it for the longest time - there is nothing inappropriate about it for any age - lots of color, music, and dancing. Can't go wrong with that! Chat Icon

Jack is 18 months and watches:

Sesame Street
Backyardigans
Jack's Big Music Show
and Yo Gabba Gabba

You can't go wrong with any of those shows - they are all pretty much music based. We love them all.

DD loves Jack's Big Music Show. I love it too! It is one of the few shows I actually enjoy and get excited when a "new" one is on!

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

Taylor has loved that show for the longest time...yes, its a little wierd, but it has good life lessons and will get me out of watching Caillou for the millionth time. I find myself singing one of the songs from the sleep episode once in awhile when I have insomnia

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

At that age Charlie was crazy about (and still is) The Wiggles and Max and Ruby.

9The Wiggles are still on Disney.)

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

I personally think Yo Gabba Gabba is strange, but watch it and see what you think. I don't think it's inappropriate for a child though.

DS is 13 months and LOVES Blues Clues--it's really not age appropriate for him but he loves it. He likes Sesame Street a little, mostly the parts with Elmo. He has watched Jack's Big Music Show and likes that too. He really doesn't watch anything regularly though, especially since Blue's Clues was moved from 6:00 pm.

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

yo gabba gabba is definitely a weird show, but my kids love it (age 3 and 13 months) i dont think there is anything wrong with letting your DC watch this at 16 months considering my DS is younger and loves it!

some other shows my kids love:

blue clues
imagination movers
mickey mouse clubhouse
the wiggles
the backyardagans
(just to name a few)

Re: Yo Gabba Gabba?

Yo Gabba Gabba isn't one of my son's favorites but he likes the music, and as 'weird' as it seems I kinda like it too Chat Icon

The first show my son LOVED (from about 12 months forward) was The Wiggles and he still loves it. Though he loved the "old school" Wiggles shows (with the old Wiggle, Greg) better than the new shows they are showing now (with Sam) on Disney.. (picky little bugger he isChat Icon)

He also loved Jack's Big Music Show at that age and still enjoys it.. as well as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

And currently he is DIEGO obsessed!! Chat Icon
and has had a renewed obsession with ELMO that I thought had waned but no such luck Chat Icon

I think it's completely appropriate. Strange, yes, but strange is sometimes what catches their attention. C'mon...Baby Einsteins are strange too! LOL

Personally I love YGG...so does my 4 year old!!
