Scheduled c-section mamas (picking your child's birthday)

So my due date is 9/13, I am having a c at 39 weeks which would be 9/6 (that is a sunday, they do not do scheduled c's on sundays) they will also not do it the next day as it is Labor day

so the 1st option I have is 9/8/09. I think it would be so cool to have the baby on 9/9/09 but I am not sure how I feel about "picking" the birthday

WWYD? Opinions?

Aww too bad I was routing for 9/6 since I'm partial - it's my birthday!!

I don't see anything wrong with it - remember just b/c you pick a date doesn't mean that the baby will comply. I'm scheduled for June 3rd b.c my doctor does them on weds only at 39 weeks. But I was told there could be a big chance that the baby might make her arrival before that time, esp since DD came at 38 weeks 4 days.

I think 9/9/09 would be a cool birthday.

What I'd probably do, just to feel like the birthday was still left up to chance, is flip a coin for which day.

It may depend on when your doctor does scheduled c-sections and hospital availability. I ended up not being the one to choose the date this time or last because of my doctor only schedules on certain days and the first choice we had was all booked up. But 9/9/09 would be a cool birthday!

i was not able to choose the date DS was born - i was *told* it would be on 9/4, then my dr. said she wasn't going to be at the hospital that day so they moved it to 9/5.

i actually would have chosen 9/8 given the chance - it was my original due date and labor day this past year.

if i could choose between 9/8 and 9/9 i would pick 9/9, because i think that is cool. you are having a scheduled C anyway, why not. i can see how you would feel about choosing your DC's birthday but with a scheduled C you kind of have to do that anyway, KWIM?

I don't think there is anything wrong with picking your birth date as long as it is withing the recommended time frame (I think they now say no earlier than 39 weeks and no later than 41 weeks). Hey, that is one of the few blessings you get for having a c!

I think 9/9/09 is really cool. Our DD was born (by chance) on 7/7/07 & we get comments all the time & no one forgets her birthday.

i'm having issues picking a date b/c a week before my ds's due date is april fools day and i really don't want that but if i don't do the 1st we have a conflict with a holiday.

Your second baby will be born right around Emma's bday! now of course I'm partial to 9/5...but 9/9 would be cool

I'd definitely do 9/9-- wondering if the hospital will be extra busy that day though, not that it matters if you're scheduled.

IMO it is awesome to be able to pick your child's birthdate!. The 9-9-09 thing would be right up my alley!....Plus it is your baby........do what is right for you and your DH!

We had the option of picking our first DS's birthday as well as this baby's and we were happy to do both. I think 9/9/09 would be a really cool b-day to have.

I don't know how I feel about choosing my childs birthdate however, if 09/09/09 was an option, I think I'd have to go for it.

I'm such a crasher, lol, but I have such a thing for numbers and I would SOOOOOO prefer 9/9/09 over 9/8/09!!!

You may not like choosing your child's bday, but the thing is that with a scheduled c-s, SOMEONE is choosing it (whether it's the doctor's office or the hospital schedule, or the doctor's preference, etc) so why not go with a cool date if you can???
