for those who take clomid
I found it odd that the dr. gave me prescription for it today. I've been trying since Aug. Can some just answer theses questions I have.
How long have u been on it?? How long was your cycle before it? How long is your cycle now?? Do u ovulate the same days every month? Do u experience and side effects? Thanks

Re: for those who take chlomid
I used to use clomid. I can be wrong here but Im under the impression that if taking clomid without insemination that pregnancy is even more unlikely then if you werent on it. Clomid dries up your CM making sperm almost impassable...
Im sure somoene will correct me if im wrong.

Re: for those who take clomid
How long have u been on it?? For about 3 months
How long was your cycle before it? 28-35 days
How long is your cycle now?? the same...but more towards 28-29
Do u ovulate the same days every month? yes, day 13 -15
Do u experience and side effects? LOTS of hot flashes, worst symptom by far for me, and it continues after I stop taking the Clomid, some mood swings, but one month I had none...

Re: for those who take clomid
I was only 50mg clomid for one cycle. It can dry up your cervical mucus or it may not. It didn't in my case. I didn't have any side effects.
However, Islandgirl is correct, clomid can be more effective with an IUI if you do notice lack of cm. Many women conceive with the assistance of clomid...and never do an IUI.
If you are taking clomid, you should be monitored. That means going in for a u/s to see your follie size and the thickness of your uterine lining. Clomid can cause thining of the lining and cysts.
There are different reasons why a doctor would prescribe clomid for a patient. Do you ovulate on your own ? Why did your doctor prescribe it for you ?

Re: for those who take clomid
What cycle day(s) do you ovulate ? She may be putting you on it to make your LP longer.
She also may be trying to push up your ovulation date.
Did she tell you take it cd 3-7 ?

Re: for those who take clomid
starting cd 1 ???? Never heard of that protocol. I would call that doctor back.
Taking it cd 3-7 may bring your ovulation up a few days.

also, it should shorten your cycle a little if its typically that long, and I ovulate on my own as well, clomid produces more eggs...

in basic terms because the clomid will help the eggs mature and get you more mature. If you start it too early, then the benefits are not there. Sorta like the Follicles which hold the eggs will not be ready yet to be stimulated.
BUT Im not a DR, I just honestly have never heard of anyone starting it on day 1

Re: for those who take clomid
How long have u been on it??
5 Cycles - 3 at 50 mg and 2 at 100 mg.
How long was your cycle before it?
Anywhere from 28 days to 103 days.
How long is your cycle now??
35 days for the first 4 cycles. 58 days this past cycle (no O)
Do u ovulate the same days every month?
I O'd on CD 20-22 on the first four cycles, but this last round did nothing.
Do u experience and side effects?
Moodiness, hot flashes, night sweats. Some headaches and vision disturbances this past cycle.
I got pregnant on my 3rd cycle, but lost the baby at around 6 weeks. I'm moving on to a Metformin-Clomid-IUI cycle next.
My CM didn't really change.

Re: for those who take clomid
I am going onto my 2nd month. Last month my cycle was 33 days- the cycle before that was about 50 days. This month I ovulated on CD 20 and I actually had EWCM whereas in the past I did not. My doctor put me on it b/c my cycles weren't regular and they were very long and often times annovulatory. We are trying this until March 10th and if it doesn't work, then onto a RE.

Re: for those who take clomid
How long have u been on it?? This is my 3rd cycle, the first 2 were 50mg and the first cycle we tried naturally, the second cycle was an IUI and this cycle (my 3rd) the dr increased it to 100mg and then we are doing an IUI.
How long was your cycle before it? My cycle was always 28 days, except in Nov went it went on for 52 days
How long is your cycle now?? It actually brought it back to 28days.
Do u ovulate the same days every month? Always between days 13-14
Do u experience and side effects? I havent noticed any side effects this month. I did get a little "dry" last month, but not this month.
Hope this helps. Good Luck
