i want to buy this for DH for his birthday.. and now contemplating on getting the 8 or 16

My husband just got one and that thing has been attached to his hand every since!
He uses it more for the internet access and all those cool apps you can download for free. (He has a smaller ipod for listening to music while working out)
Honestly, it's pretty amazing.
I think he has the smaller memory one- he said since he stores his music on his other ipod that was all he needed.
ETA- his has the integrated speaker in it too... that is pretty cool

I LOVE MINE!
What the price the 16GB one is now -- is what my DH paid for my 8GB.  -- So i would just get the 16GB -- since its a 2nd gen and they improved it from the original version. (The intergrated speaker is my fav thing that I WISH my iTouch had)
Definitely a great gadget!

i just tried calling a best buy near me.. they are out..

i just tried calling a best buy near me.. they are out..
Its a bit far--but S. Setauket shows its available according to BestBuy.com -- its on sale this week for $284 -- so its gonna be hard to get.
Call them and see if they'll hold it for you! 631-737-1632
ETA: if you purchase it on BB.com right now and select pick up--they will have to have it in store for you when you get there

I have one. I really like it. The only thing is would your dh be using it at the gym? I find it really annoying when I'm at the gym it's hard to change songs. I prefer my older ipod when I'm running.

I have the 16, DH has the 8. If you can afford the extra $ for the 16 it can't hurt, but the 8 will hold TONS of stuff!

I just made the same post about a month ago :hah;
I ended up getting the 16GB, for DH's birthday.
Buy it directly from apple.com so you get the 2nd generation one. I think best buy, etc may still be selling the 1st generation one.
Also, what I learned is that in order to use apps like Shazzam, you need to buy the earbuds with microphone ... the 2nd generation iPod touch supports them. Older models don't.
