Looking for a Perinatologist or...
Hi Ladies I'm new to the board. Id love it if anyone can recommend a perinatologist or a really GOOOD ob/gyn in Nassau or Suffolk..Closer to the south shore if any..if not ill take what I can get. The reason I'm asking is because in each of my pregnancies I suffered from sever hyperemesis, (and a bunch of other problems) the 3 drs that I had basically told me that I was crazy, it was in my head, or I just had morning sickness and to deal with it because most women get it. I get to the point where I'm so sick I cant even move, I cant eat or drink for weeks at a time, I lost 25 lbs in my 1st pregnancy and 23 lbs in my 2nd. I was in and out of the hospital with both pregnancies for dehydration. This time around I need a Dr that will be on my side and help me along the way with treatment and possibly getting home health care. I know my insurance will cover it and it will be so much easier getting iv therapy at home then to be in the hospital for days every week. I know it can be done as alot of the mothers on the Hyperemesis message board i go to receive home health care. I just need a Dr who believes just how sick i am. Also I know this is a big debate on each board that I visit but id like to try for a VBAC. The best part is while i was having my c-section my Dr said "well the good thing is you'll be able to have a vbac next time". A year later I went in to confirm my 2nd pregnancy and I told him id like to have a vbac, he looked at me like I was crazy saying that there aren't any drs in NY that will do them. I haven't done much research on it yet. But if anyone knows of a Dr that will let me attempt it I would love any information I can get. Thank you all so much for reading.

Has your OB recommended one to you? Mine has me seeing the perinatologist at the hospital I will be delivering at and from this point on in my pregnancy, this perinatologist will dictate to my OB on the rest of my care and delivery

I met once with Dr. Goldstein -- he is affiliated with my ob's office, but I think he primarily works at Madonna Perinatal in Brightwaters.

Re: Looking for a Perinatologist or...
I called a peri in the area myself and they said i couldnt just go and that i had to be refered by my dr. A few times he though about sending me to one and then by the end of my visit he would say ahh you only have a few more months, weeks...left. On the top of all my charts they had me written as ***HIGH RISK*** but he didnt want to refer me. I was so sick that i couldnt do anything for myself as far as research or calling around so i just layed in bed telling myself i wasnt going to die everyday. The only time i felt better was when i was in the hospital getting rehydrated with ivs and that was atleast 3-4 times a week from 2 months to 7 months. Im doing all the research now before the sickness hits...i have about a month. Unless it decides to grace me with its presences earlier. Thanks for your help!
