Anxiety and illness after miscarriage...
I miscarried on 12/30 and thought I was dealing pretty well with everything... then my period came back and I began to see the reproductive dr to follow my cycle to see what is going on and then I have 4 close friends who are due around the same time that I was (a matter of weeks apart) and they are all growing bellies and finding out the sex... etc... its just harder than I thought I guess... I didnt realize that I've been pushing the feelings away until last night when I broke down sobbing. Since my period has come back and we started seeing the dr etc.. I have been having really bad anxiety. My throat feels tight... I've just been really stressed... I feel like I'm making myself sick. Anyone else going through something similar?

Re: Anxiety and illness after miscarriage...
After losing my son back in Sept I can relate 110%. I have been struggling with severe anxiety and depression for months and it is debilitating.
A few things that have helped for me:
1. Talking about it. I have a wonderful and supporting husband and he is always there for me to vent. It also helps that he understands. I have met many wonderful women who have been through the same thing and it has helped alot. Journaling can help too.
2. Have you thought about a support group? My husband and I currently go to two of them and they are great.
3. I see a therapist one on one and she is great. There is always the possibly of going on medication as well; I have just been reluctant to do so as we want to have another child.
It is simply amazing what the mind can do!!! I have been struggling immensely with this. It is good to just try and do things that make you feel better and are enjoyable. This is something I struggle with each day; as part of me feels guilty for moving on.
If you need to vent, you can always FM!!
Hope you feel better!!!

Re: Anxiety and illness after miscarriage...
I just went through something similar. I'm on a business trip now and there was an adorable baby girl -- maybe 9 months or so -- in the row in front of me. Literally being held up and facing me for a good part of the flight. After a few minutes, I just started crying and shaking uncontrollably. My boss was on the plane with me a few seats away; if he saw my mini-meltdown, he didn't say a thing.
By four hours into the flight, I got through most of my anger and sadness and was able to smile back at the baby.
I'm sure there will be other challenging times ahead.

You will be pg again before you know it Nic. I know it is very hard but give your body a little time to heal. It has only been a full cycle or two. I would bet you anything you're pregnant in less than 6 mos from now. And then you won't have to be sweating all summer with me!

I am sorry you are going through this. It's just so hard to get past- but you will in time. Thinking you are fine and then feeling like you are falling to pieces is totally normal. It is a very deep pain, and sometimes it just bubbles to the surface, and you just can't control it. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Anxiety and illness after miscarriage...
I know that often our interior emotions manifest themselves externally. I have been having a lot of tightness in the chest since I miscarried and I truly believe that it's my grief/sadness taking over me exteriorly. That might sound strange but I am very aware of myself and I just feel that that is what it is. I am a believer that our emotions and feelings affect our health. I am not surprised that you are not feeling well - especially since your friends are feeling such joy that you are unable to share in. I am so very sorry for your loss. Know that you are not alone and that we share in this difficult time with you.
