WWYD? Pink eye
Med. question for fellow teachers.
Woke up this morning and eyes was glued shut. Just got back from the walk-in medical center and I have pink eye in one eye and he thinks it may have spread to the other. UGGG!
Question is, I just started antibiotics and I know it is highly contagious - would you call in sick tomorrow or go to school. Doctor said if I did go, just to make sure I kept my glasses on to avoid itching and touching things that the kids might touch. I hate calling in sick, such a pain on the a**.
WWYD?

Re: WWYD? Pink eye
If I was medicated for 24 hours before, I would go in.

Re: WWYD? Pink eye
if you know that you are highly contagious, you have a responsibility not to purposely spread it. i would not go it--we have sick days for a reason. you can't possibly keep your hands from your eyes 100% of the time.
just like we hate when parents send their kids to school sick, teachers shouldn't go to school sick either
i hope you feel better.

I agree and just called in. I have been miserable all day and it has been hard enough trying to avoid giving it to DD. Your right, I would be as bad as the kids if I came in all contagious!

Re: WWYD? Pink eye
I got pink eye when I was student teaching, and the school wouldn't let me come in until I'd been medicated for 24 hours. I'd take the day off.

I also think that in NYC they dont let you come in if you have it, and they dont take away your sick days...or so i've been told.

Re: WWYD? Pink eye
I just recently had it - I went to the walk-in clinic and they wrote me a note for the school. I came in the day after and it looked awful (although I was medicated) and they sent me home.
even the day after that, I caught the computer teaching lysoling everything after i left!!! LOL

Re: WWYD? Pink eye
I would wait the full 24 hours. If you went to the doctor at 10 o'clock, I don't think you should work tomorrow,
