What crochet stitch would you recommend for a throw?
I want to move on from single and double stitches....
I was thinking about the popcorn stitch, but it looks like it would be very time consuming  (I could be wrong)
what would you recommend for a throw?

I'm just a beginner, so I am not sure I could follow a pattern. 
I would like to someday though
if you used only 1 stitch for a throw, what would it be?

If you are trying to decide between a single and a double, I'd go with the double because it builds up quicker.
If you are feeling adventurous and want to try a pattern, this pattern is really very simple and its beautiful. The pattern is for a baby blanket, but I have made it several times in adult-sized throws and afghans...you just need to make the chain a bit longer to the size you want. Its essentially 1 single and 2 double crochets in the same stitch. As long as you know those, you could totally do it

me either..definitely post pics when you finish it! And you could do a SC all around the edge to give it a nice border..really brings it all together.

that's a great idea! I never would have thought of that.
there is 1 problem though... I am allergic to 100% acrylic (obviously this throw is not for me) and I am using yarn for the 1st time that is 100% acrylic. I was rubbing my eyes for a long time last night after I stopped and kept feeling itchy. Maybe it's all in my head... I am going to give it another try tonight. if I am still having issues, I will give the yarn away and start over with something else. oh well...
