Tell me Long Islanders, where are good places to live?
Hello, I am making the move from Queens to Long Island in the next few months.
Can someone tell me some great neighborhoods/school districts in Nassau county?
Thank you all

Re: Tell me Long Islanders, where are good places to live?
Well I'll start out like this:
Nassau county, within 20-45 minutes on the LIRR to downtown Manhatten and Bklyn. Looking for a pretty decent school district *we havent had kids yet but will be trying soon*
Also we'd like something thats a legal 2 fam although mother daughters are good too.
So where are the good towns? Ive looked in Franklin Square, Massapequa, W Babylon, Wantagh-and I think thats about it.

Valley Stream with Hewlett-Woodmere schools is where we are. The home prices are coming down a bit and I know there are a few 2-family houses around that are for sale. Taking the train into the city is not a problem, nor is it a long commute - we use the Gibson station and we can be into the city in 25 minutes if we catch an express.

Re: Tell me Long Islanders, where are good places to live?
DH and I just bought a home last year and I would be more than happy to fill you in on areas based on the amount you're looking to spend. For example, you mentioned Franklin Square and DH and I looked there (and almost bought there) but had a tough time finding a house right for us that we could afford the area of Franklin Square zoned for Carey High. (I FM'd you about this and accidentally called in Franklin High.) We ended up in East Meadow which is farther from the City but much more affordable. Any questions just ask.

Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Massapequa, Seaford are on the south shore and are all great areas with good school districts.

Wow, that must have been a lot of work. What about New Hyde Park, Franklin Square, Levittown, Williston and Williston Park?

I just went to MLSLIREALTOR.com and pulled up Nassau County - which is already in ABC order so it wasn't that much work. I'm from Suffolk, so I am not AS familiar with Nassau as some who might live there which is why the above named towns were left off - I'm sure there are other nice areas that I left out and that is simply because I'm not familiar with them. I only put the areas I am aware of personally. HTH!

Re: Tell me Long Islanders, where are good places to live?
I am in Franklin Square...but in a part that many people don't know about. It's known as Dogwood Park/ Dogwood Estates/ Morton Estates.
I have been here for 11 years. I ABSOLUTELY love it here.
Houses are ALL ranches or converted into HUGE colonials.
Taxes are higher here than other areas of FS, but there is more property here as well.
My kids go to school here and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the school.
FM me for details if you'd like.
Good luck.

Port Washington (lots of two families in Manorhaven), New Hyde Park (some sections are part of the Great Neck School District I believe), Stewart Manor (cute area, but many homes are in the Elmont SD which isn't good), Garden City, Williston Park or Albertson.
