Late Miscarriages
Hi All,
I have had a miscarriage at 19 weeks this weekend, the doctors think that the pregnancy was viable up until 15 weeks.
If you had a late miscarriage, I have a few questions,
How long did you have off of work? The midwife suggested I take 3-4 weeks off work, which is fine, however I don't know what I will do with myself for that time...
and...when did you start ttc again? I am keen to get right back up on that horse....
Any input would be appreciated. tia

Re: Late Miscarriages
i am so sorry again for your loss... just know that if you ever need to talk i am here!
i had a loss at 16 weeks.. mine was from Incompetent Cervix.. my body just couldnt hold the baby.. i went into full labor and gave birth naturally..
so as far as work went.. i went back a full week later.. i just couldnt handle seeing coworkers before then.. i bled too much also, so i was just relaxing most of the time..
to answer your other question.. to pass the time.. DH took a whole week off too.. i was with him.. and we were just spending every moment together mourning for our little one.. we needed to take that time to gather up all that happened..
i actually wanted to go back to work a week later and no more.. because i couldnt deal with it anymore.. i needed more of a distraction.. and the first day back at work sucked.. after that was better..
as far as TTC again.. i was told to start after my 3rd cycle.. they were very adamant about that... i didnt listen and should have because my body was just not healed yet.. i started trying after the 1st cycle and then it took me 6 months to get PG again.. which resulted in another loss.. i am now currently seeing a RE.

Re: Late Miscarriages
I lost my daughter last April. I was 20 weeks. My water broke at 9:30pm 4/12/08. I went to the hospital and they tried to see if i had any fluid left, and i didnt. Infection started to set in, they induced me the next day 4/13/08 and i delivered my daughter at 3:00pm, she was still born. There was nothing they could do for her b/c she was so little. I had to have a D&C also b/c i had some placenta left.
I was out of work for 6 weeks. Im glad i did, i had alot of people that were pregnant at work, and i just couldnt go back and see them right away. My DH happened to be out of work at the time, and he was off with me. Now a year later i am pregnant, again. i will be 25 weeks on monday, however this pregnancy has been difficult. i have an Incompetent Cervix and i almost lost this baby, thank god i had early intervention to save my son.
I started TTC like late June once i got AF, but we just had sex, we didnt really try. In Oct i used OPKs, and i conceived Oct 14th, and i had a + HPT 10/23/08
Im so sorry for your loss, that was the worst day of my life and the hardest thing i ever had to do. If you need to talk feel free to FM me.

Re: Late Miscarriages
first i just wanted to say that i am sooo sorry for your loss... as far as time off i would go by what your doc says and what your body tells you. As long as you feel ok and you are emotionally ready to go back to work i would judge it that way. as far as TTC conceive every women is different and I would follow the advice from your doc.

Re: Late Miscarriages
First I just wanted to say I am so sorry. I lost DS at 20 weeks, but I was induced, then gave birth. I went back to work after 1 week. I was physically fine, emotionally, not so fine, but it was better to be at work keeping busy for me.
We tried for #2 right after my first AF, so 6 weeks of bleeding, then a week break, then a two week AF, then we got pregnant right away. My doctor had said to wait for 3 months, but after I asked him 'what if' we didn't wait and got pregnant right away. He said that I would physically be ok to carry a baby. I personally couldn't wait 3 months.
I wish you the best of luck.

Re: Late Miscarriages
Im so sorry for your loss....I lost my daughter at 5 months PG. Had an infection, labor started and was too far along to start and delivered her stillborn.
I was in a deep state of emotional shock and depression and actually didnt go back to work for a LONG time ....About 6 months. But I was having a severe emotional reaction to it.
I think only YOU will know when your ready, even if it is before your Dr says is neccesary. Let your Body heal and then decide.
You will know whats right for you in your shoes and follow your heart.

Re: Late Miscarriages
We lost Rogan at 22 weeks and I also had to have a D&C. DH and I both took a week off of work and then went back. I really wouldn't have known what to do with myself for more than that, except cry. I was able to start again after 3 months, we had to wait for my uterus to return to pre-pregnancy size. Once I had a sono and everything looked normal again we were given the okay to start up again. Once again, I am so sorry for your loss....

Re: Late Miscarriages
I am so very sorry for your loss
I had a loss last April at 16 weeks. They guess the baby had died at 13 weeks. I had to have a D & E - was out of work for a week. It was found out months later that I have a blood clotting disorder which is the probably cause of why the baby died.
I had other health issues going on which we needed to focus on for a few months and went back to see our RE 6 months after the loss which is when they did the testing on my blood work.
If you ever need someone to talk to or cry with, I am here
