Heartburn at 10 weeks?
Is it common to have heartburn this early on? I've had it bad since about week 8.
I remember towards the end it was bad with my son - but OMG - it's terrible already.
Anything else to relieve the pain besides Tums?

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
I remember having heartburn with DD practically the entire pregnancy. It was a lot better once I cut out all citrus including pineapple, cranberry juice, orange juice. If you are still drinking coffee that could be doing it to. Try and look at what you are drinking and eating. It might be to acidic for you.

I'm not drinking coffee anymore
The only thing I really drink is lemonade....could that be doing it you think?

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
I had really bad heartburn throughout the first trimester and half of the second trimester. Surprisingly, it got better later in the pregnancy. I was allowed to take Zantac 75 twice per day. It helped tremendously.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
the lemonade can be causing it.
Ive had heartburn from about 6 weeks so far. I have GERD and a hernia so i belive my heartburn is from that even though it wasnt too bad b4 i got pregnant. I notice some things make it worse than others such as coffee (coffee is a NO NO for me) i would have heartburn for hrs later. Also anything with butter (cookies etc) triggers it for me.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
Can tomato sauce cause it you think? I notice that when I have sauce (or eat pizza) it's pretty bad.

Tomato sauce can def cause heartburn!!!!
The only tomato sauce i can eat (even prior to being preg) without giving me severe heartburn is the one i make fresh at home (only from fresh tomatos). I cannot put any oregano or spices in it at all. just a bit of salt and a couple of basil leaves (fresh only bc the dried ones also give me heartburn )
ETA: plain water can cause u to have heartburn too. Try seltzer instead

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
Mine started at 6 weeks this time!! It was horrible. With my first son, it started wayyy later.
I am now on Zantac 150-totally safe during pregnancy, my doc recommended it..and it has been a lifesaver.
I would get heartburn after a glass of water, lol. It wasn't just acidic foods, it was anything.
I think its actually reflux and not heartburn...feels like a burning at the top of my throat..
Feel better and don't let it go on for too long w/out relief! I wish i started the zantac sooner!

I definitely think the lemonade is doing it. Try cutting it out and only drink straight water. I couldn't even tolerate water with squeeze of lemon, lime or orange in it.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
I did get it that early, I think. Tums Smoothies were also my best friend - I had them everywhere, home, work, car, purse. They actually worked better for me than Pepcid.
I found that no matter what I ate, I got it. I did better when I ate smaller quantities throughout the day. A large meal just wasn't worth it after a while.
Sometimes seltzer and milk would help too, but not always.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
Yup - with Kaitlyn I had it from the beginning (around 5 weeks). This time I got it around 10-12 weeks and it is MUCH worse than it was with her (and it was pretty bad with her). Nothing seems to work for me - not the tums that worked with her nor the zantac.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
Mine started right away, but I've had issues in the past. My prenatel is what is really giving me problems now. My doc oked Pepcid AC which workes great for me because it is fast acting.

Re: Heartburn at 10 weeks?
My heartburn was wicked, especially at night. I had it wks 8-12 and then everyhting suddenly went away! I'm sure it'll be back again soon. I ate Jolly Ranchers and drank lots of milk to ease the belly.
