is this a good price for tile work?

we had someone come in and give us an estimate to tile the back splash in our kitchen and put down tile on our kitchen floor.

It's a small kitchen, the back splash is a total of 30 sq ft and 80 sq ft for the floor.

He gave us an estimate to tile both plus to do some other minor repairs of $1,400 (cost does not include tile)

I am clueless as if this is a good price or not...does anyone know?

I think that is too high.

We had our backsplash done for about $500 and tile installation runs about $5-7 a square foot.

I've never actually priced that out...but it sounds high to me. Maybe get a few more estimates to see if they are comparable.

I have heard $7 a sq foot.

That's a normal price- if it's a mud floor. If it's not a mud floor, it's a rip off.

Remember, it's for a backsplash, floor, and minor repairs.

That doesn't seem to bad. We had our Kitchen & Dining room tiled w/ mud floor and it ran us about $1200
