BF'ers... do you exclusively use the same hold?

99% of the time, I use the football hold. I have sort of modified it, where Sasha basically sits next to me and faces me so I can get my huge boob in her mouth. I can see this posing a challenge when I actually attempt to nurse in public-- depending on where i am.

Does everyone else switch it up-- or do you just use one hold?

I primarily use the cradle hold, it is just most comfortable for me. I did the football hold in the hospital once, but found it uncomfortable.

On weekend mornings I do nurse laying down in bed so the three of us can cuddle together. That's really the only time I use a different position.

the only hold i ever felt comfortable using was the cradle hold. i have huge boobs too and it was never a problem for us.

if you plan on BF in public, i would try the cradle hold at home first so you 2 can get the hang of it first... personally i wouldn't feel comfortable using the football hold in public, but a nursing cover would help you i think.

I used football for about 6-8 weeks because I had a C-section. Once I healed and DD got a little bigger we switched to cradle.

I used to do the cradle hold, but sometimes DD only latch on to one side, can't get her on to the other. So I started nursing her in bed laying on my side, she has no problem latching on either sides with this position. Never tried the football hold though.
I also pump, so will feed her with a bottle in public.

I do football when I tandem nurse and cradle when I feed them separately. sometimes i feed them laying down too.

because of the size of my Ubangi tribe knockers in the beginning..i HAD to do the football hold..how that my boobs arent the size of dinner plates, i have moved onto the cradle hold sometimes unless shes fussy and i have to switch around a bit..its funny i remember a nurse telling me that once you get the hang of it, youll be able to nurse hanging from a chandelier,...and though i havent tried this yet..im sure i can

mostly the football hold. He doesn't latch on as well doing the cradle hold and milk ends up dribbling down my stomach.

Back when I was BFing, I used the football hold exclusively (until DD was 6 mos!). Of course it becomes somewhat modified over time as the baby grows, but that was the basic hold.
The VERY few times I BFed in public, though, I did do cradle - it was awkward for me, but got the job done as discreetly as possible.

I used to use football but since she has gotten bigger I only use cradle now

Generally I use the cradle hold, sometimes the crosshold. I only use the football hold when I have a plugged duct.

The first 4 weeks I primarily nursed using football hold. For some reason I wasn't coordinated enough to do cradle hold while trying to prevent suffocation from the knockers.

Once he got to be a pro at latching and could worry about his breathing himself I switched to cradle.

By 8 weeks I was able to nurse him while lying down as well.

Now at 9 months I could probably nurse him while on my head if I needed to.

I alternate between 2 different positions, but it's due to my back problems. 50% of the time I nurse lying down, and the other half I use the cradle hold.

I never understood the football hold. She's gotten so long...where do her feet go?

DD only took to the football hold for first 3 months, so I just used a nursing cover. She was able to do the cradle hold later, her head got bigger (hides more), and I got more comfy so then I didn't need the cover.

My boobs aren't that big, so I don't have the same issue but I primarily use the cradle hold

like the other girls that had c-sections i really used the football hold for a week or two. then i learned how to use the boppy - now i do boppy and laying down..

seriously..no joke..theyre so big lately that i was harboring a lost binky in them this afternoon while my dd was sleeping on my chest, and couldnt figure out why she kept crying...
no kidding..if i was 12 lbs, i couldnt pry a binky out of these bad boys either!!!
