Colic behavior has returned!

My son is now 16 weeks old and suffered with colic for the first three and a half months. He was finally doing better on a colic formula for the last two weeks. However, the last three days have been a nightmare!! He has fits of screaming where he lifts his legs, flails his arms around, and is inconsolable!! (Same thing he used to do!) I have to return to work in a week and have spent most of the day crying and wondering how I'm going to leave him if he continues to be like this.
Stupid question, but is it possible for colic behavior to return after it was gone for a while? He sleeps through the night so he doesn't exactly fit textbook colic but his screaming fits are exactly what a colicky baby does. I'm just scared, upset, and desperate for some answers. I just want him to be happy and I can't seem to figure out how to help him. Everyone I know that has had a baby, has never experienced anything like this so I feel even more alone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've never heard of it returning. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

What's his schedule like? how are his naps? I know my son used to do that same thing... throwing himself back, crying and throwing a fit when he was incredibly overtired. Do you think that could be the problem?

His sleeping schedule is a little wacky. He sleeps great at night (about 10 hours) During the day, he cat naps. About 25-40 minute naps every two hours. He could be overtired-I hope it's something as simple as that. It's good to hear that you also experienced crying fits like that. I don't feel so alone!!!

You are NOT alone. It drove me nuts looking at everyone elses happy DC and I couldnt for the life of me understand why DD was screaming, all the time. It did get better, its 4.5 months now and I could see the difference at 4 months. Shes still fussy, but not like she was. Is it reflux? Digestion issues? What formula are you on?
I think I spun my head in a million different directions when all that helped was time. Good luck..hang in there. Chat Icon

DD was colicky for longer than 3 months. It did get better, but not 100%. She also slept through the night (6pm-7am). She also took 2 naps (2 hours each). It does get better...by 5 months she became the happy baby I wantedChat Icon It's tough,,,stay positive!Chat Icon

OH BOY did we experience those fits!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Just awful so i feel your pain.

At 4 months old (i think you said 4 months), i *think* he should be sleeping more than that during the day. THis is what caused my sons fits. He was taking like 1/2 hour naps and only a couple during the day, when he should have had a total of 4-5 hours of sleep i think each day for naps. Also at that age, my son could only stay away for like an hour and 15 minutes in between naps. He was a mess! Don't get me started on it. Chat Icon

Unfortunately the only thing that helped us correct this problem was CIO at 5 1/2 months for naps.
