Please tell me your opinion

Why do you think some children on the spectrum speak and others don't? I know there's no proven answer but I'm just curious on your thoughts. My son is 4 1/2 and is very high functioning except he has no speech.

I am not sure why. I know that they use other people's body to express themself.

Like DS would not point. He will use my hand to show me what he wants ie. he takes my hand for me to follow him. Then put my hand on the door handle. He is telling me he wants to go out. I know this is very common for children with autism to do that. He has learned to point but will only do it for close objects. He does not point for things in a distance.

DS babbles but does not "talk" any real words. He also has a hard time with GMI. So since GMI is hard, oral imitation is even harder since he does not get the concept of imitation completely.
