Food Cravings....

I am only 8 weeks pregnant....but OMG not being able to have coldcuts, and things like soda and chocolate right now are killing me.

What other foods is everyone avoiding??? I know I need to just be careful till I am out of the first trimester...but I want to stay away from certain things throughout the whole 9 months to be safe.

But OMG I cam dying for a big sandwhich right now...it stinks!!!

unfortunately, you have to confirm with YOUR specific doctor to get this answer....

some are OKAY with cold cuts, while some would slap you with a ruler for eating them. they all have different 'protocols'.

many, many women on here follow the 'everything in moderation' policy...and that fortunately, is the way my doctor is too.

Re: Food Cravings....

I actually have my first "official" doctor's appt. this friday so hopefully I will just get answers from the doctor. I know I can do things in moderation, but I would prefer not to until I am out of the first trimester.
This is my first and stuff like possible infections/bacteria scare me....just want to be safe as I can.

Re: Food Cravings....

My dr. is adamant about no hair dye and bleaching my mustache, but pretty laid back about food. Interesting. He says its OK to have a cup of coffee a day, and he didn't say anything about chocolate.
He also said that his wife is a gyno too, and she tells her patients its OK to dye their hair, so its true, every single doctor will have their own say.
I guess we all have to do what we are comfortable doing.

shari - chocolate should be fine (i'd think). dark chocolate can even be good for you!!!! (loads of anti-oxidants)

if you are 'addicted' to caffeine from coffee or whatever, it's MUCH better to have your one cup a day than go without it and deal with withdrawl symptoms on TOP of the fun fun pregnancy ones!

I'm having trouble with the cold cuts too. I used to bring cold cuts almost everyday for lunch and now I'm soo lost for lunch options.

I still have chocolate.

Re: Food Cravings....

I actually get the coldcuts from Trader Joes, but if you get it from a good deli you're fine. They're talking about the meats that sit around for a while.

Also, Chocolate... are you kidding me. I think I have some piece of chocolate a day. I've been pregnant since Sept so every freaken holiday there's a ton of it from Halloween, Turkey Day, Xmas, Hanukah, V-Day, Easter, etc.

Re: Food Cravings....

You can eat cold cuts, if you are paranoid just heat them up in the microwave to kill any potential bacteria

never heard of no chocolate either , that should be fine.
