Laid-off? How long? Still looking?

I was laid off last January and am having such a hard time finding a new job. I mean, there are jobs out there, but for less pay and more hats.

So i was just wondering how many people here have been laid-off and for how long?

Im not completely laid-off but I was earning a decent full-time wage with great benefits.

About two months ago my hours were slashed from 40 a week to 25 and all my benefits were cut in our companies effort to not go under. Its really only a matter of time.

I have been looking constantly for those two months for something new but Im finding that employers aren't offering as much money anymore since they know there are desperate people out there willing to work for less. I

It's super frustrating. I have a great resume and have only scored two interviews so far. One of which, I did not get . I am still waiting to hear from the other. I would love nothing more than to not be in this mess.

laid off since november-
been to almost 20 agencies, gotten 2 intvws from them
gotten more on my own
waiting on 2 intvws now

For my DH it's been since November. He has been on about 5 interviews maybe? He sends out tons of resumes but isn't getting many call backs...it's still tight out there.

Me - laid off since the end of October.
Still looking - been to staffing agencies - no call backs. Looking on my own and sending resumes with no call backs no interviews at all.

DH - just got laid off a week ago. At his company, there are only a few people left there and their hours were cut back and salaries were cut down too.

I didn't fit into any of your categories...I was laid off on March 12th and I got a new job and start on 4/27.

laid off since January 2008. Posted my resume on monster, careerbuilder and Yahoo HotJobs with several calls from staffing agencies claiming to have a job that matched my background. I found out that they are looking to get candidates to go in and register with them and don't get you out on any interviews.

Had a 1 month temp assignment in October and that was it.

Looking on my own and applying to jobs to companies directly on their website.

i think this is a tough question to ask becauseit varies on the industry. my friend is in IT and found a new job within 9 days (and got a $10K raise to boot!) Then I see some of your answers and I really feel for you ladies and your DHs. Good luck to all of you, my fingers are crossed for you!!! good job vibes!!!!

yeah, my DH is a software developer has received two raises since i've been laid off, which is great.

there are industries that are thriving in this economy, that's true.
