Where should we go on 1st anniversary?? - tropical suggestions!
Hi ladies!
DH and I are trying to plan a trip for late June....just a week.
We want to do tropical and not over the top $$$.
Suggestions??
(We'd like to stay around $2,000-$3,000)
ETA: We don't want to go to Bahamas (been 4+ times) or Mexico (went on honeymoon)

We really love St Thomas. I've cruised there and stayed there. Also, Bermuda is beautiful and not the typical island-type experience.

COSTA RICA!!!!! We stayed in Jaco at the MArriot there...it was seriously awesome!
I think you gous would really dig it. IT dosen't have insane beaches or anything. You would really just hang in the pool or take a day trip to Manuel Antonio National Park- JUST DONT TOUCH THE TREES THEY'RE POISONOUS

I would go to either Puerto Rico or Aruba. DH and I loved both of these vacations!

We were looking for the same thing in February for our anniversary, and we found a lot of places much more expensive than 2k - 3k (not sure if that is your TOTAL budget or just for flight and hotel).
We ended up going to Dominican Republic and stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana Resort. Flight and everything was $2400 for 5 days (that was our max budget).
We loved it!!! The pool and beach are gorgeous. The food was pretty good, grilled stuff was the best. Great alcohol, and just really really relaxing. We did nothing except lay on the beach and ride horses (included) at the resort.
We found this was our best option given a budget similar to yours.

I JUST came back from dominican republic. Liked it a lot, but want to try somewhere new!!!
Heather - is Bermuda $$$? What about St. Thomas? Thanks man!

We are looking at either Bermuda or Aruba for our 1st Anniversary trip. I'm not sure about prices though.

IDK if you'd be interested but, what about Hawaii? Apparently there are all sorts of outrageous deals on airfare to Hawaii right now. I was on Orbitz earlier and they gave me a quote of $868 per person for flight and accomodations for 5 nights at Turtle Bay.

DH and I are looking to book Costa Rica for our anniversary, Our budget is 3000 and I'm liking what im seeing in our budget so far! We're looking to stay at the Occidental Grand Papagayo for 3 nights and 4 nights near Arenal (the volcano), possibly Arenal Nayara, and that with airfare came just under our budget. That was all done by myself. I'm going to see what a travel agent can do.

Bermuda isn't super cheap, but its not insane either. St Thomas is more economical, but not as beautiful IMO.

I agree the suggestions for St. Thomas. We were there for our HM and WOWWWW beautiful island, fabulous beaches, some nice shopping  You can get GREAT jewelry there too! (I doubt u will be able to leave there without a souvenir from one of the jewelry stores!!)  They really have some gorgeous stuff!

Wow! We're shocked by this!! We never thought we'd be able to afford Hawaii!!! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm seriously looking into it now!!

i say Costa Rica..it's supposed to be amazing. as soon as dh & i can afford a vacay we've decided on this! Go before it gets $$$$(its getting very popular these days..) u get the best of tropical relaxation along w/adventure

we went to PR for our honeymoon and had a blast, the airfare and hotel was pretty inexpensive

Jamaica is great. Dh and I are also looking into Costa Rica, which is supposed to be incredible. We're also checking out Puerto Rico.

I love St. Maarten - when we went last year we flew non-stop from JFK to Philipsburg on Jet Blue for $750 total for the two of us! So many places to stay and they accept US dollars. Everyone was so nice there and the beaches were gorgeous!
