Gift Question

I have to go to a Christening on Sunday for my cousin's baby. The Christening is in North Carolina. I want to give money but my question is...how much? For my shower, they gave me china protectors (about $25). I know a shower and a Christening have nothing to do with each other...just throwing it out there.

Help me!

Re: Gift Question

that's tough. As a rule of thumb, I usually don't give a gift under $50.

Is there a party after the christening - is it an expensive party, food, etc. If so, I would want to give at least what I thought the lunch/party would have cost and a little more for gift.

HTH

I have never been to a christening so I have no clue what I am talking about really Chat Icon

Re: Gift Question

christenings we usually give anywhere from $50 - $100 depending on who it is/where it is, etc.. BUT..the only reason this is a tough one is because it's out of state Chat Icon not sure what the norm is down there...

Re: Gift Question

WOW. I must undergive for christenings then. I give $25. If it's someone I am really close with, $50. Honestly, my standard gift - for birthdays, communions, confirmations, most christmas gifts - are about $25. I don't have a lot of money and we have a lot of parties!

And I do not base my gift amount on how much the party cost the people who are throwing it - that's their choice, not mine. But that has been discussed a gajillion times on LIW ... Chat Icon

Re: Gift Question

I would give anywhere from $75-$100.00 depending on who it is. If it were a niece/nephew, I'd give a lot more!
