I got my "girl-mom" moment today
My younger stepdaughter dances, and today is pictures for her recital coming up at the end of the month..
DH asked me if I could do her hair - she needed a bun for ballet. She has hair a little less than shoulder length and very thick hair, as do I, and its challenging to put up hair like that. I was a dancer for years, so I know what goes into this hair stuff....
I never get to do things like this, but today, she sat on the floor and I went at it with a lot of gel, a little spray, those clear rubber bands, and 3 - yes THREE bobby pins- thats it! I used 2 of the clear bands. The hair net kept the little rogue hairs from escaping the bun. I pulled everything so tight she looked like she had a face lift....
She really looked beautiful, and I don't think she was expecting the job to be as perfect as it was, but when looked in the mirror, saw her hair pulled tight into that tiny little bun, she beamed and said "Wow - that looks really good!" and kissed me.
As a mommy of a little boy, I'll never get these moments with him, but at least I get them with my stepdaughters when thy agree to talk to me once in a while.
It was a nice moment!!!!

Awww Liza, I know what you mean!! It's nice to have those "girly" moments together!!
