baby shower help
I want to have my shower at the Irish coffee pub. not really sure I should spend the money because Im having about 50 guest. My mother thinks that I should have it a the chinese buffet near her. but I really wanted something nice, with no chance of problems. what do you ladies think.

Re: baby shower help
I don't want to get hazed by saying this, but I don't think a "Chinese Buffet" is the best kind of place for a baby shower. I know people would definitely "talk" in my family/circle if a baby shower was held in that kind of setting. I would definitely spend the $$$ for the Irish Coffee Pub. I've been there for several showers and they do such a great job. I also don't think they are that pricey from what I've heard.

Re: baby shower help
Although the Irish Coffee Pub is a great place I don't think there's anything wrong with having a shower of any kind at a chinese buffet.
No offense to PP...just giving my opinion but anyone who would talk bad about where you choose to have your shower doesn't deserve to be invited. The shower is about getting together and celebrating a baby...not judging how nice or fancy the place is. I didn't plan mine but would have been just as happy with it being at a buffet.

Re: baby shower help
You could also just do something outside, at someone's house or have appetizers somewhere if $$$ is an option.
To clarify, I am not trying to be offensive........and I would be happy regardless too (hell, the restaurant lost my reservation and forgot to order the cake for mine!). But the poster asked for opinions, and unfortunately or not, a lot of people DO think this way. We ALL know that ;).

Re: baby shower help
I held a bridal shower at the Chinese buffet by me. I needed something affordable and their prices were perfect. And the food was good. I never received any negative feedback from my guests. That's not to say they didn't talk. Because we all know someone will comment regardless of what you do Do what you can afford.
ETA: Are you throwing the party yourself? If so and YOU want it at the Irish Coffee Pub...than by all means do what YOU want.

Re: baby shower help
If you can afford to have the shower at the Irish Coffee Pub then go for it, I have heard so many good things about the place. But if you really can't afford it, go for the Chinese buffet. You can always shop around at other buffets and find the perfect one. So what if people talk, people will talk about anything! Planning and throwing a shower is a great gift to the mommy to be, I am sure she will be having such a great day, where it is held won't bother her at all. Do what you feel most comfortable with. Have you looked into renting a room at a hall? You might be able to find some nice deals.

Re: baby shower help
It really is all about personal preference... some people will love it and others may look down on it. But as long as YOU don't have a problem with it, then do it! Let people talk... it's about a celebration, it shouldn't matter what the location is.
I have gone to a baby shower and a graduation party at Chinese buffets and everyone enjoyed themselves just fine!
