Those of you who just don't want children at all...
...do you find that you are bit uncomfortable with the thought of pregnancy for yourself?
I always said that if I were to get pregnant I wouldn't want people congratulating me, looking at my belly, looking at my sonograms, asking me a million questions about my body, the baby, my Dr's appts. etc.
I wouldn't want to show off my belly and would probably hide it for as long as possible and I know I'd be very uncomfortable watching my body change.
When we were undecided about having kids I used to tell my mom all the time that if i DID get pregnant I didn't want a shower- because the thought of all those people staring at me while I opened gifts- all the while with this huge belly- made me feel faint. It was hard enough at my bridal shower to get through it- and I was young and thin etc. I couldn't imagine doing it while pregnant...
Maybe I'm just insane or something- so I wanted to see how others in my situation of not wanting kids felt about it....

I definitely can't picture myself pregnant. The thought of everything stretching so much really freaks me out

I can picture physically being pregnant (the belly), but I cannot tolerate the thought of everything else that goes along with it or living my life as pregnant

We are on the fence about having a child. If we decided to do it we would be adopting because I have no desire to ever be pregnant. Not the belly so much as all the other crap that goes along with it. No thanks

Yeah... I want to get preggers but I have a hard time picturing myself that way. And the thought of people making a fuss about it... touching my belly... watching me open gifts (hate that in general)... staring at me in line at the grocery store... and what i hear about being tired and cravings and being even more crabby and....
DH and I wan kids but if I REALLY think HARD about it I am not so sure!!!

Re: Those of you who just don't want children at all...
I've had several nightmares where i am pregnant...and about to give birth...and in these nightmares I am always saying "but i don't want a baby!!!"...haha..the thought of pregnancy doesn't really bother me...more the process of labor/birth, especially since i've witnessed it first hand and it's not pretty...but i am not having kids so no worries.

The thought of my body changing or the physical discomfort doesn't bother me very much.
It's the fact that once pregnant, respect for your rights as an adult disappear. Your personal choices become an acceptable topic for endless public discussion, and regard for your personal space just flies out the window.
I cannot believe the balls on people to ask such intimate questions of pregnant women- are you BF? Why? Why NOT? For HOW long? Are you circumsizing? Why? Why not? As if the condition of your child's penis is vitally important to them! And no matter what the answer is, it will be criticized.
All the strangers reaching out to touch your belly! OMG- I would go apesh!t if anyone ever did that to me without my permission.

Re: Those of you who just don't want children at all...
I never imagined myself at a shower or with a big belly because I never imagined myself pregnant. My mother is very obese, and I think that i've always been terrified that if I have a baby i'll become obese too.
As far as pregnancy and birth itself, I find it all horrific and just plain gross. In one of my classes they discussed what happens to your stomach(the organ not your belly) during pregnancy and I almost wretched just imagining it.

it's where it ends up, nothing happens to the inside. it moves far up into the ribcage

I am really weird, because I think of myself as one of the most ‘convinced of my childfeeness’ people you will ever meet, but I always thought it would be SO COOL to be pregnant. I would totally love to ‘grow a child’ and have it be me & dh and all the changes and all. My terror about children is leaving the hospital with it and it being all your responsibility and what if it won’t eat and what if it’s sick and what do you do with it and how do you not sleep and the smell and the noise… so yeah, for me, pregnant, cool, baby, not cool.

Right now, I am the same way! I would love to be pregnant - to feel what it was like, to research it and then see my own body go through the changes that I read about as the months go on. I would love to give birth and see my body do what it was meant to all along.
Its the after part that I am not ready for. Its funny, my friends have always said they want me as their surrogate if ever needed b/c I love to do things "by the book" and I over research everything so pregnancy would be like a science project for me

Re: Those of you who just don't want children at all...
Honestly, I've had nightmares of being pregnant. Not trying to be dramatic or anything, but the few pregnancy dreams that I've had I've woken up terribly upset or very sick. I don't have thougts per say about being pregnant because I've known for a long time it wasn't something I was destined for. But at the same time I'm happy when a family member or friend is pregnant because I find their bellies to be so cute and they really do have a certain glow to them.
