File Number
Since I graduated from college I've been teaching in private schools. I have my NYC permanent certification and have been trying to get into public schools for at least 3 years. Now I'm thinking I should just sub.
My question is this..and hopefully I don't sound stupid! Is my file number on my teacher certificate by any chance? I always hear "do you have a file number" but honestly I don't know. I've also gotten fingerprinted a long time ago. Thanks for your help!

Re: File Number
No your file # is from NYC and your certificate is from NYS.
If you have any old observations, any probationary papers (or even tenure papers) it should be on there. You can probably call 718-935-4000 (HR Connect) and they should be able to look you up using your SSN.
Good luck!
