new here, with questions
I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago. Totally unplanned, and I was completely stunned. But just as DH and I were adjusting to the shock, I started to cramp and bleed. The doc said I was miscarrying and gve me some kind of pill (something with an M, I forget) to contract the uterus. How long do you bleed for? Is cramping (like PMS/AF) normal? How long was it before your cycles straightened out?
TIA.

Re: new here, with questions
I am sorry for your loss.
My doctor gave me a pill as well. It was cytotec and when I first began miscarrying I used it as a suppository and at my follow-up visit, I took it orally. The total bleeding ended in less than two weeks. I was cramping and bleeding very heavily for a day or two in the beginning (in fact even before I took the medication)--it's totally normal.
By the time I miscarried, I was already theoretically 9.5 weeks, so my hormone levels were over 20,000; in other words, very high. My levels did not return to zero until around a month later and that's when I got my period. That was over 3 months ago and my cycles have been totally normal ever since.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

I am so sorry for your loss. May I ask how your doc knew you were miscarrying?

They did a sono after I explained my symptoms. I wasn't that far along (under a month) so does that make this a chemical pregnancy?

Re: new here, with questions
I guess you mean a month since conception (about 6 wks along?) so and there was no sign of an embryo? That would make this a chemical pregnancy I believe. Are you sure about when you conceived? I guess if you knew you were pregnant for a couple of weeks you have to be at least 6 wks along.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I have heard that you bleed heavily for about 24hrs and that it can be as bad or worse than mentsrual cramps. However, I think since this is a chemical pregnancy that it goes without too much severe physical pain...I think. I have only had d&cs myself, but I have asked a few of the other girls who have been through it.

I was supposed to be 7 weeks. But I literally just realized I was pregnant when this all happened. AF was late, so I took a test (a few, actually, because I couldn't get over the fact that it was positive). I feel so guilty... we got PG "by accident" and we so scared of having a baby before we were ready... and then there was no more baby.
Thank you for your support. I'm a semi-regular poster under a fake name. I'll come out eventually. Thanks again.

A similar thing happpened to me. I found out I was pregnant with my third child in March( which was shocking since I needed to have infertility treatments to have my second child.) I cried and cried. I could not believe what bad timing we had with this baby. But then a week later I was praying and hoping this baby would work out. I even started injections and meds. I fought hard for a baby I didn't want. And I know I would have loved that baby if he or she had been born. I cried again when I lost it. I had my d&c two weeks ago. Now I am thinking I will go for my third next year.
Don't feel guilty. Its ok to be apprehensive about having a baby . In fact it just shows you have realistic expectations. Having a baby is hard work. This baby wasn't meant to be but maybe it was meant to make you think... You would have stepped up to the plate if you were given the chance I am sure so try to put any feelings of guilt aside. Its unfair to yourself.
Feel better
