Alcohol & Diet
With the summer here, I've been going to BBQ's every weekend and drinking alot of wine and mojitos! It's killing my diet. Does anyone have any secrets?? I watch during the week but I feel the calories in the drinks do me in.
Any recipies for low cal mixes?

Re: Alcohol & Diet
If you watch Real Housewives of NYC you might be familiar with the SkinnyGirl margarita. I forget what's in it exactly but if you look it up it's actually really yummy and not bad for you! I know that in June it'll be coming out in stores all in one and it's only like 90 cal.
Also when I need a little pick me up I'll have a vodka and carb free rockstar energy drink....doesn't have much in it.

Re: Alcohol & Diet
I drink hard alcohol with diet soda. I like vodka with diet sprite and lime. I don't use much alcohol so I can have a few drinks throughout the night without using too many points. I know there is a recipe for low points margaritas out there somewhere. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Re: Alcohol & Diet
Remember, though, it's not just the calories in the drink that make you gain weight. ALCOHOL makes you gain wait. A bicardi & diet coke, which is low in calories, makes you gain weight.
First of all, drinking alcohol causes you to lose your inhibitions. Normally you wouldn't sit around munching on tortilla chips, but you don't even think about it when you're drinking.
Secondly, drinking alcohol messes with your metabolism. The way alcohol is metabolized by your liver, your body burns less of its fat stores for hours. More fat stays in your body, then. Beer bellies aren't caused by the calories in beer; it has to do with how the alcohol is metabolized.
Just wanted to put that out there. If you're watching your weight, even "skinny b!tch margaritas" really take you away from your goal.
