anybody ever take prednosone?
i have a case of poison ivy or some kind of bad bug bite. went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me a prescription for prednosone. i started taking it last night, and so far so good--- but just wanted to know if anybody else has taken it, and anything i should look out for (side effects or whatever). the pharmacy gave me a sheet, but i like to hear "real world" experiences, too. thanks!

I was on it for Bell's Palsy, and my BIL was on it for a while. We both gained quite a bit of weight. Depending on the dosage, and the length of time you are on it, you have a very good chance of gaining weight.

My husband said it made me 'irritable'. I could kind of feel it; things that I would have just waived off before the drug pizzed me off more when I was taking it.

Re: anybody ever take prednosone?
I was on it for a little bit as well and in my experience it made me feel rather depressed. Tired all the time, no interest in anything etc.

thanks! LOL this was fun to hear! i'm only gonna be taking it for about 12 days, and its 10 mg pillls... the doctor said it was a pretty mild dose, just to help get rid of the poison ivy ( i don't have a horrible case of it) we'll see what happens-- since its not for astma or anything really serious, I might just stop taking it if i find its not a good thing.

that is a very low dose and pretty short term-you shouldn't worry about having side effects.

That's funny, I just went to the doctor today for the same thing and got the same dosage. (I actually got the poison ivy in/around my eyes and they are all puffy) The last time I had a higher dosage because it was worse but even then I didn't have any side effects. It's a low dosage for a relatively short period of time. You may not have any side effects.
Just be careful because you can't just stop taking steroids from what I understand. It could be dangerous. You have to step down the dosage so please don't stop taking it without speaking with your doctor first.
