Do you ice the injection site?
My husband was giving me the the shots in the beginning but I took over a few weeks ago. I have been putting a cold pack on the injection site (for less than a minute....probably only about 30 sec) before I inject the meds. I think it is more mind over matter since they don't really hurt either way. But....I was just reading online about Menopur and some docs say not to ice at all because it makes the medication not disperse properly. They actually recommend heat. Anyone know if this is true?

Re: Do you ice the injection site?
Not sure if it's true, but if I didn't ice the injection area I dont' think I could have gone thru with it. I iced for at least 10 minutes before and I never felt a thing.
I don't think it affected my follie growth at all, and I triggered the same as the months prior.

Re: Do you ice the injection site?
For some reason, the Menopur injections really hurt me, but the Gonal-F and Lupron did not. Before I gave myself Menopur, I did ice the area briefly before I gave the injection.
For my progesterone shots, I was told NOT to ice and only to use heat. I use heating pads before and after, but it does not seem to do anything

Re: Do you ice the injection site?
I've never iced any of the injection sites - the Gonal F and lupron were painless anyway.
I made the mistake of icing after PIO once and got a HUGE red lump on my tush!

Re: Do you ice the injection site?
I never iced the injections sites for any of the subq shots. I still take a Lovenox shot daily, don't ice.
I only iced for the IM shots...just because I was a chicken, not for any other reason!

ITA!! I always iced for menopur, gonal-f, and lupron. The menopur ALWAYS stung going in no matter how long I iced for. As for the progesterone, I used a heating pad before, and right after, while rubbing the injection site.
GL!
