For ladies in their 30's

This may have been asked before, but at what point do you start getting tested to see if there is a reason for not being able to conceive??
I know that it can take up to a year to get pg but I'm closing in on my mid 30's and don't want to wait another four months (when the year will be up).

Re: For ladies in their 30's

That is a good question. I am 32 and have been TTC for 8 months and was wondering that myself.

Re: For ladies in their 30's

The standard time they say is 6 months of ttc for a woman over 35 and one year for a woman younger.

Do I believe you should get hormonal testing done as soon as you are 'frustrated" absolutely without a doubt. There are so many things that can be treated however, if you let it go, it's just wasted time.

If you need any help about what to ask your ob/gyns to do, if you don't want to see a reproductive endocrinologist yet...feel free to Fm me.

There are a lot of tests that can be done simply with blood work that can explain a lot.

Re: For ladies in their 30's

I'm 31- If we chart for 6 months and nothing, I will go straight to an RE- I'd rather not deal with my Ob/Gyn with this. We are in month #3 now...HTH!! Chat Icon

I am 34 with a history of cysts and endo. My doctor did the bloodwork after 3 unsuccessful cycles and will do more testing after 6 cycles if I'm not PG by them. However he did say he normally wouldn't test someone under 35 until 8 months unless they had a "history"

Definitely ask for at least the CD3 and 7DPO bloodwork earlier!!!

Good luck!

At 35, I went right away after we got married. I had been charting for 2 1/2 years and only ovulated twice. I just do not ovulate on my own.

Re: For ladies in their 30's

I went of the pill in May and went to the doctor in October b/c my cycles were all over the place and I wasn't ovulating.
Because of that- she spoke to me right away.
I was put on Clomid for the past 2 cycles.
After the third cycle, we wil re-evaluate.
