Question about SEIT?
For those of you who send your child to school with a SEIT... Are they with them the entire time or just an hour? TIA

Re: Question about SEIT?
DS had a SEIT in preschool, she was with him for 2 hours per day.

Re: Question about SEIT?
I am a SEIT! Whatever the mandate on the IEP is what your child will get. If the problem is for behavior, depending on the district you are more likely to get more hours. However there is a fine line between a child needing a SEIT or needing an inclusion classroom, if you request too many hours they may start to imply that the child should be in a different setting. BEST OF LUCK!

Re: Question about SEIT?
Thanks! We are actually still in EI, and will be transitioning in Dec. We have not done evals. yet so I'm not sure how or if he will qualify. In Sept. DS will be starting preschool and the principal is telling me that the "aide" has to be with him the whole time. I think she is confused. Thanks again!

We are sending our DD to preschool this July with a SEIT. We will be under EI services until December as well. She has two therapists and they will be piggybacking their services so she has someone there the whole time (ie 9-10:30 then 10:30 to noon). This was really done with just the therapists and myself because as the above poster mentioned, if I pushed to have someone there the whole time the county would have pushed to have her in an inclusion classroom. If they weren't able to work out their hours that way then DD would have only had a SEIT with her for 90 minutes and the preschool was fine with that as well.

Re: Question about SEIT?
Best of luck! Don't let the teachers call SEITS aides! We are (most anyway) highly qualified and have our master's in special education!
