Would you be concerned? Things on your skin?

If you had things on your skin that was there for over 16 years and has never ever changed in anyway, would you start worrying about skin cancer? Yes, I got this spot from a bad sunburn when I was 14 yrs old, but it's never changed and doesn't look bad in anyway. It's just there. I started worrying because now I have the same thing on my shoulder from sunburn last week. Actually, I believe it was there last year from a sunburn. It looks exactly the same thing as I've already had and neither one bothers me or is doing anything. I just started thinking... but me being such a worry wart, it doesn't help. You can barely see either. It's somewhat flesh color. Maybe like a skin tag but not mole I guess? It's raised, but that's it? And yes, I try to avoid sunburn, but for some reason I don't think it works on my shoulders??? They're also small and about the same size. Thanks!

Re: Would you be concerned? Things on your skin?

I would just get a biopsy and then you'll know what it is.
I had something on my face since I was 6 years old (I am now 32). That flesh colored growth that was biopsied as a child was benign (back then).

During my pregnancies, it began to change, and it ended up being an invasive skin cancer. I was shocked, so were all my MDs! Especially because it was there over 20 years.

I wouldn't worry too much if this thing has not changed. But I would get it off anyway.

I have had other regular basal cell carcinomas, and for some reason, they have all appeared very small, and flesh colored. They easily get confused with fibrous papules (completely benign growths, which I have a few of as well.)

Good luck, let me know if there's anything you need.

If you've never been, you should go to your dermatologist for a sun cancer screening anyway (at least once a year). You can bring it to his / her attention then. Chat Icon

I think I have the same thing. I have 2 on my leg, honestly I dont remember not having them. Went to a dermotoligist, had a biopsy, colorless mole from sun damage. Go see your dr just for peace of mind
