I had to do this. They basically just want to see that you are applying to jobs and if you are hearing back from any companies. They want to make sure you are applying to jobs that you are qualified for.
They do not contact the employers. I went there, sat in a room. We watched a film, and listened to a woman talk for 20 minutes and then handed in the sheets and left.

As far as I know they do not contact the employers but they absolutely can. They just don't have the time.
