Where are your kitchen outlets?

Are they set into your backsplash, under mounted to the wall cabinets, or have you found a better spot? My electrician told me he is not in favor of the ones set into the underside of the cabinets. I was so disappointed when I saw my husband nod that I stopped listening to his reason. He did say that he has done it, though, and I will press him before I give up. I really don't want them in the backsplash. What are your thoughts please?

Are you talking about mounting them under the upper cabinets? Oh I WOULD NOT like that at all. It would look terrible when something had to be plugged in. I put them in the backsplash and used a brushed nickel plate. I was worried I would hate them in the backsplash but don't mind them now. I did put one on the side of the island where it is not visible and I like it there.

All of our kitchen outlets are on the backsplash. Wouldn't it look weird having the plugs hanging from under the cabinets?

If you have them under your cabinets, don't they intrude into the cabinet space? That would take away some of the usability of the cabinets. Definitely wouldn't want that to happen.... Plus, when it's time to plug something in, you've got to crane your neck in a weird position to look up and under the cabinet to find the outlet. Not comfortable.... I personally wouldn't want it. Under cabinet lighting, yes, under cabinet outlets, no.

Mine are above the backsplash.

We have our outlets and lights under the cabinets,
They do not use any space in our cabinets at all. They are tiny strips that go under and don't interfere with our storage space.

I prefer the outlets underneath, because we have a TON of outlets.

I do not like the look of alot of outlets in a backsplash. I like a very clean look, i do not have anything but a toaster oven on my counter and you don't notice the wire at all, and i don't always keep it plugged in.
All my other appliances are in a cabinet above the refrigerator.

We have them in the backsplash but in hindsigh I should have had them hanging from the cabinets, I think its nicer when they are hidden.

Ours are on the backsplash, and to be honest, i don't even notice them. We have other things on the counter (fruit bowl, wine, salt/pepper) that break up the space.
If you're looking for a completely clean look, then i can see doing it, but it wouldn't be something i'd personally care too much about.

mine is on our backsplash as well. i dont think it would look good with the outlets underneath.. well at least in my kitchen anyway.

I would have preferred it undermounted - I never even knew that was an option.

I would have preferred that being that we don't have anything that needs to be plugged in on a daily basis. We have our toaster but it's unplugged at all times.
