diarrhea for 10 days!

My six month old son has had diarrhea now for 10 days! He was running a fever on Thurs and I brought him to Dr. who said it was just a virus. He still has diarrhea today and now has developed a cough. I'm just super nervous and the Dr. said he doesn't need to see him unless it lasts until Thurs. That answer really scared me because I thought diarrhea for this many days was dangerous for an infant. Has anyone else had this problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would go back to the dr. JMO. 10 days is to long IMO for an infant to have BM issues.

Is he drinking a lot of fluids? lethargic?

My DD is older than your DC (she's 2.5), but she had messy poops for awhile. I finally took her to the ped, who said that there wasn't much he could do for a virus, but told me to use Florastor Kids. It's a probiotic powder I added to her milk 2x a day and it helped her pretty quickly. The box did say that it could be used for infants too. I had to ask for it at the pharmacy. Maybe you could call your dr & ask about it? It really helped us.

10 days seems a little long ~ I would go back to the dr or call. I hope your son feels better soon!
