Gastric Reflux and the camera they put up your nose, down throat
I went to an ENT doctor today because of that sore throat I can't seem to shake. I had it since Tuesday  My regular dr saw nothing there and I was getting really frustrated since it hurts so bad.
Well.......... This dr predicted it's gastric reflux and wanted to give me a nasal spray and put a camera up there so he could see down my throat. This is NOT an endoscopy because it doesn't go down to your stomach, just your throat... and u stay awake.
Well, I am a BABY and I refused.   The thought of getting anything down my throat makes me PETRIFIED! I told him I was going to hold off and see if my sore throat gets better in the next few days....
So my questions is: Has anyone had that procedure done? And, for those with acid reflux- what are your symptoms? My only symptom is a sore throat

yes - i have had it done. i don't think i mentioned all my tummy troubles in the other post about your throat....but i have MANY!
with that procedure - you don't feel anything at all - that i can promise you. i had it done maybe 1.5 years ago...so my memory is 'fuzzy' - but if there were pain or something - believe me - i'd REMEMBER...as i'm kinda a wussy with things like that.
for me - the diagnosis was SILENT reflux - i had no other symptoms except a cough after i ate - every time....there was no burning pain, etc. i'm desperately trying to remember if i had a sore throat with it - but i can't.

I did something ridiculously stupid and looked up the procedure of youtube Sometimes I think I deep inside I must enjoy torturing myself like that  Anyway......
I'm hoping that there's just a canker sore in my throat that's lower down, preventing the drs from seeing it. The camera down the throat thing just has me running for the hills HOWEVER.. thanks for calming my nerves- at least I know if I do have to get that procedure, it doesn't hurt. Honestly it's just the idea of it that gets me nuts. Ugh, yikes!

I've had it done a few times for acid reflux which was burning my throat. They spray something up there to numb it and putt he camera there. It takes maybe 30 seconds not even for the dr to finish and it really only burns a little in the nose area. No biggie! I would go back and get it done so you can get some relief.

Thanls He told me to take Zantac in the meantime to see if that gets rid of the problem and I am  that it does! Otherwise I will have to go back for that.
I am the biggest baby imaginable, I can't believe I managed to get my belly button pierced back when I was 18! And the thought of me and labor one day- unimaginable! When it comes to pain, I am the epitome of BABY!!

I had this and absolutely gaged during the procedure and screamed at him to take it out. I am not a fan of this test at all. Prevacid worked for me, but the sore throat was not constant with me...came and went.

OMG!! Did you have anything to numb your throat while it was being done? My dr said he was going to use a nasal spray and when I looked up the procedure online, it appears that's a numbing spray that goes up your nose and drips down into your throat. (sounds lovely  )

Yes i've had it done a few times. it's uncomfortable but over before you know it. It's really no biggie.

Yes i've had it done a few times. it's uncomfortable but over before you know it. It's really no biggie.
Thanks- For the most part people are saying it's uncomfortable but not a big deal.
In hindsight I wish I had done it at my appt last week so I would have it behind me already. But, you should have seen the look on my face when his mouth said the word .. "camera"
