Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
I wanted to name dc if a Geri Ann (after my sister and in honor of my mother) - DH veto'ed. The unused name was Hailey Rose.
For a boy I wanted to name DS William Walter W (our last name starts w/ W and dh is in IT so it thought it would be funny www)
I got prego after a trip to Bryan, TX and we flew into Austin so Bryan Austin - but no 90210 ref's allowed.
We wound up w/a Logan James.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
Jack was always my first choice, but was not used due to recent popularity and a family member named Jackson. Tyler was my DH's first choice, but our last name ends is "er" so I said no first names ending in "er" Landon was actually towards the bottom of my list but it was the only one DH would consider. Now I am so glad we chose then name Landon
The middle name was going to be Henry no matter what, its a family name.
We never had a problem choosing girls names.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
Before I got pregnant, we were talking about names. oringally, we were going with Eric for a boy. But, once I got pregnant we vetoed it for no good reason. Even though we didn't know what he looked it, we just felt like Eric wasn't his name. Daniel just came to mind and that's what we chose. I love names that start with the letter J but our last name starts with a G and is prounced with the J sound. All J names sounded silly. I really liked Jacob because it was my great grandfather's name. but, DH felt like it was more of a Jewish name and we are Catholic.
For girls, we were gonna go with Olivia. No questions asked.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
So many names got vetoed
DH wanted Rose----no way for me....bad connection. For a middle name he wanted Anna, but her name would have been Daniella and I didn't like the double A.
He hated Lucia.....
I hated practically every boy name he liked......Connor, Tyler, Jeremy....
So we settled on Gavin and were torn for a while between that and Alex....

Get ready to laugh but my DH was set pm Cash Vonnegut I told him absolutely NOT-he REALLY tried to convince me..
Other than that nothing was really too serious. We knew we were having boys from 14 weeks on pretty much and had a number of girls names..
We did consider using Declans middle name as his first name(Croix) but through people would think it was Troy...

I love the name Dylan, but DH also vetoed any 90210 names.
He also vetoed Eva, which I love, love, love and Julia, which I wrote about last night.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
Our original boy name was Jack. I actually has a m/c before Ryan and swore that was a boy and we told SIL that we planned on Jack for a boy. Her son was born a few months later - and named Jack That's OK - now everyone I know is named Jack so I'm glad we were forced off that name.
I like more unique names for a box - Max, Sebastian, Caleb, etc. DH vetoes them all - he's more of a Michael/Matthew type of guy.
In this running for this baby - Colin, Declan, William (but I don't want a nickname to be Willy)
He doesn't really like any of my girl names - but I don't stress too much over it b/c I don't think I'm having a girl

If was a boy she would have been Nicholas Robert
Our backup girl's name was Madeline but Mattea Jordyn was the ONLY name we agreed on so it stuck from the second I suggested it...now that she is here is fits her SO WELL!

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
Nina was going to be Sadie, my mom's name is Sarah as well as my Grandma's name. To not confuse the two, they called my mom, Sadie. But I kept going back to Nina, I don't know why, it just felt right. Im glad I chose Nina but now if I have another girl I want to name her Sadie but DH isn't loving it now. Other top contender were Sophie and Ella but they were both too popular. I try to avoid top 100 names.
If we have a boy now we are so torn. Roger is my dad's name and we will absolutely use it as a middle name. We LOVE Sebastian BUT my last name sounds a lot like Bach so Im having a hard time with it. DH begs me to use Sebastian but I don't want people thinking we named him after the Skid Row lead singer Right now we are between, Sebastian, Lucas, Matthew, Caleb and Hayden for a boy. But I have a feeling we wont use any of those LOL

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
We never had any back up names for DD, it was always going to be McKenna Rose.\
Our DS was going to be Dempsey Nicholas and everyone talked us out of it. So we ended up with Braeden Nicholas.
Our unused name is Declan Michael which was going to be our DD's name when we thought she was going to be a boy !

i love genevieve for a girl but dh has a cousin with that name and he vetoed it.
i wanted a particular popular name for a girl but mentioned it to my sil (dh's sister) and she of course used it, so that as out.
we ended up havong our little esme, who unfortunately is a vampire character in "twilight," but the name is not made up. it's old french for "beloved" and thought it was pretty and unique.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
We didn't have back-up names. DH wouldn't consider picking names until we knew gender. We each made a list and crossed off rejected names on each others' lists until we got Abigail Eden.
HOWEVER
It wasn't until after we decided upon a name that someone told me that she had a dream in which we named her Avery. I loved the name, but it had no religious ties for us to the Old Testament (which was our only requirement). She doesn't look like an Avery. DH also liked Addison which also doesn't meet the requirement. I did not want people thinking we chose her name based on what we watched on TV being Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice.
Our last name is also a mouthful and "Russian-ly" ethnic. People butcher it every day. Anything trendy or cutesy or uncommon would simply sound ridiculous with it.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
We had settled on Caelan Louise or Vincent Louis for a boy's name with my first pregnancy - but when the baby was born, Rob was completely overwhelmed with having a son and HAD to name him Robert. So Robert it was.
When I was pregnant with my youngest, Rob really liked Joseph or Jason for a boy. I already have a nephew named Joseph and my SIL would not have liked me 'taking' that name so that got dismissed. And I wasn't in love with Jason. I liked Jack and Dante immensely as well. We had decided on either Summer Lee or Cara Ann for a girl - but the baby was born with a penis and I got my wish for the name Noah Richard (which Rob wasn't IN LOVE with - but didn't hate either).
I also fell in love with a lot of A names - Alys, Aidan, Anais - but all were veto'd because both my last name and Rob's start with S so the initials would have been A-S-S!
I loved Dane for a boy but it was an ex of mine and Rob was having none of it. I veto'd his choice of Amber because (aside from the fact that it was an A name) combined with our last name it sounded like a stripper. His choices of Ginger and Sheena were similarly dismissed. My choices of Etta, Coltrane, Miles, Davis, Ornette, Flannery, Stanton, Cecil, Fleur, Harper, Zelda, Fitz, Bronwyn, Lana, Marilyn, Tyrone, Darren and Walker were all rejected outright together with a few other old movie stars, writers and music artists that I tried to slip in!

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
I always knew the gender at 20 weeks so we didn;t bother choosing names until after that.
Aviana was always Aviana; I knew that from years prior.
Ayla was going to be Mia or Mariah
Amelia was going to be Anna

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
DS: Anthony was always going to be Anthony. WE did like Matteo, but in my family you name the first born after your DH's father. Thank God it was the same name as Dh and a name I always loved!
DD: IF she was a boy, Matteo was going to be the name we used. When we found out girl, we just used the feminine version Mattea! BUT, after a few months I fell in love with the name Valentina and DH was against it, but I loved it and was going to use it. Once she was delivered and I saw her face, I knew Mattea was the name for her!

I liked/loved Lila but it wouldn't work with our last name and DD wasn't a fan.
He like names from our own generation: Michelle, Lisa, etc. I nixed all of those.
It was down to Claire or Elise. We went with the former and I am so happy we did.

We picked Isabella Christina for our daughter. Nicholas (our son) is DH's name and his father's name. If we had a boy this time around, we would have named him Matthew or Harrison and other girl names were Gabriella, Hailey or Brianna.

For a boy, I wanted Max. DH nixed it. Our boy names were Nate (Nathanial) and Theo (Theodore).
For this pregnancy, Nate is still in the running.

Re: Spin-off Names: What were your back-up names? Veto'ed names?
We didn't have back up names really. If you search my posts on LIW from before my wedding in 2004, you can see that my DD was always going to be named Elizabeth.
My DH had some ridiculous notion that I might have considered naming my DD Brooklyn... but I would have only okayed that if he gave birth himself.

Names we considered:
Nicholas Jordan James (for a middle name)
I liked Andrew, but DH vetoed it--he doesn't care for Andy as a nickname. Same for Alexander. I don't remember vetoing any of DHs choices--I think I came up with most of the names.
