Another question
As stated in my last post, for almost a year now, I've worked with the same boy (who has autism). I'll be leaving him in a few weeks b/c I'm going back to work full-time and our schedules just don't mesh. Should I get him a "goodbye" present?

Re: Another question
It would be a nice gesture especially since you have been working with this little boy for 1 year.. Our team leader left for another job and kept saying she was going to give him a birthday present, etc... She never did. She never gave him a present when she left.
Either do it or don't do it but don't be all talk. KWIM!

Oh I would never talk about it beforehand. I gave him both birthday and Christmas presents but I never even remotely discussed it with the parents beforehand. I'm surprised that people would actually say they are going to get a gift and then not follow through!

I did not mean "you". It was just what happened to us. In the end, I did not care. It was just "don't tell me you are going to do something if you are not going to".
I know the parent will appreciate it. It will look more "personal" not like it was "just" a job.
