Lipa Water Gas if you have it Homeowners insurance Cable Internet Phone Oil
Then you have the things you have rennovations, upkeep, landscaping, tools for the new house.
It never ends.

Re: bills when buying a home
great thanks...i forgot to mention i am buying in pa and this is actually just going to be a vacation home/weekend home. we really cant afford anything here in ny just yet so we plan to hold it down for 2 yrs and then sell it in about two yrs when we are getting married and try to put the money towards something out here. we are both 25 and still live at home with our parents. i hope we are not making a mistake.

Even though this is a vacation home you still are going to have these bills it just won't be constant except for cable/internet/ phone.
I live in NJ and the county I am in we have to pay for sewer, water and garbage collection. Those are all separate bills so you might want to find out if it is included in your taxes or if it is separate.

Re: bills when buying a home
just as in FYI- it takes at least 5 years to pay principle down on the mortgage
if you plan on renting it- you might also need a property manager
I have a client that owns 7 houses as rentals- not one of them is profitable after all the fees
and not one of them is worth what he paid
have you consulted anyone on this investment?

Re: bills when buying a home
no we dont plan to rent it out with agent or anything, we have many people we know that would be interested for a weekend here or there every few months. we just got done with our lender and our mortgage and all utilities will be less than 900 for both of us..we just see it as instead of moving in together right now and wasting all that money on rent we can buy a beautiful property in a popular community, use it on the weekends and in two yrs try to sell and get a condo here in ny...does that make sense to anybody? is this a good plan? we're not really trying to make a profit here but i also dont think we will be losing anything
