I never go there without my coupon and UFT card as my id 
Also just so everyone knows, you could get 20% off at Barnes and Noble. I showed them my teacher id and they gave me a card now that I can present to them.... it says "educators discount" on it.... Def inquire about it! Technically you can only use the discount on books you will be using for the classroom, but they don't always check, or care what you are buying. 
ETA: I just remembered, you can also sign up to get 10% off at A.C. Moore.
Hmm, we should start a thread with teacher discounts, just to make everoyne aware

I signed up for the The Loft teacher's reward and got a coupon when I joined. I used the coupon and the cashier kept it. You mean, I can get discounts every time I shop? Do I get a card? Can you use the discount in addition to other discounts?

The cashier should NOT have kept the coupon!  You can keep it in your wallet and use it every time you shop (If it's the 15% off one)My advice is, sign up again, and this time, keep the coupon!  (That cashier must have been inexperienced.. whenever I go, they know to give it back to me) Also, you can't use it along with other discounts but you CAN use it on sale items.
There's a 20% off one that's just for 1 time use, and can only be used on non-sale items.... but when you sign up, you get both. I had to sign up again recently because I misplaced my coupon.

hmm i just tried to rejoin and it says my email address is already in use so there must be someway i can get a new coupon
eta i clicked on the loft forum tab and hit need help with username and password and they are resending it to me hopefully i can get a new coupon

Oh, I've had an educator's discount card for years. B&N is generally pretty supportive of teachers, but sometimes, they can be obnoxious about whether or not the books you're buying are for classroom use. I started a whole thread about that back in December when I had a problem with a cashier in my B&N -- haven't been back there since. Technically, as a high school English teacher, ANY book I buy can be for classroom use since how are they to know if I'm not planning on including it in my classroom library? They don't. For the most part, at least, they've been pretty good about just giving the discount. It's one of my favorites.

Hmm, I haven't had that problem with using the same email  I guess u can always create a new email address and just use that.... Good luck!

They require you to show some form of school id. The place doesn't always ask because they know me there already But otherwise, they have to see proof that you are a teacher. It can be a pay stub or any other form of ID that you are a teacher.... Doesn't have to be a UFT id.
Hmm I wonder if looking frazzled by 3:30pm on weekdays is a good enough form of teacher id 
ETA: I was just thinking about it, SOMETIMES they don't require you to have the coupon....... just need to show your id. It depends on the location, some are more strict about it than others. But, I always have the coupon on me just in case because most DO require it.... which is dumb.... because it seems like the cashiers already have that coupon code memorized!

Oh, absolutely. But don't worry -- some cashiers will find a way to make them not qualify. I feel like they're just on a power trip sometimes.
