Please educate me on dance for toddlers

For those of you who have done it or are considering it ...

At what age did you start?

Are all of them year long committments?

Do the kids really like it?

Do people usually sign up together with a group they already know or can you just find one and try it?

If anyone knows any specific ones in Merrick/Bellmore/Wantagh that are good, please recommend. Thanks. It sounds like fun on the one hand but such a huge committment on the other. All the one's I've called are year long committments. My DD is only 3. I don't know if she will like something enough to do it for a whole year.

Re: Please educate me on dance for toddlers

My DD started dance at 3. Technically it is a year long commitment but the school we go to you pay by the month. In the beginning you pay for sept and june and you have till mid december to back out of the end of the year recital. We live further east than you, but i would keep calling around and make sure to voice your concerns to them. Most places should be understanding especially with kids that young.
BTW when we joined we didn't know any of the kids but my DD made friends in the class.

My Aunt owns a dance studio but it's in Franklin Square. Right off the Southern State Exit 16 N. She has a class for 3 years old and if you think your child can do it younger than that then you can bring them in. The studio is called Miss Edie's Dancin Feet! I might start taking my daughter and she is only going to be 1!!! I brough her in the other day just to check it out and she loved itChat Icon

Re: Please educate me on dance for toddlers

DD is 2 1/2 and will be in dance come next month.
Shes signed up in Bethpage at Norma's.

Done on a month to month basis, an hr class where she is dropped off and picked up afterwards.

That is my only dilemma....since she is very clingly, shy and I see tears to come.
I know she will eventually enjoy it though.
