Stewart Manor
Does anyone live in Stewart Manor? If so can you tell me about it. I would probably send DD to catholic school if we were to purchase in the area.
Thanks!!

Re: Stewart Manor
Didn't ever live there but have lived in Garden City. It's a very nice area and reminds me alot of Garden City...not to mention its close proximity to Garden City. SD is Franklin Square which is pretty decent. Not rated as high as Garden CIty but still good. Hope that helps!

Re: Stewart Manor
it's absolutely gorgeous!! i would live there in a heartbeat. the homes are beautiful... lots of quaint Tudors and Colonials. Borders Garden City and has that feel. Don't know what school dsitrict it is....parts of it might be Franklin Square or Floral Park. taxes are high, i think.

Re: Stewart Manor
Thanks for the info. I live in Garden City now and would love to stay here but DH and I want to buy a house and GC is out of our price range. I thinks it's actually elmont schools for elementary...so I would probably send DD to catholic school when the time came. I just don't know how the recreation programs work, pool, etc... Do they have their own or does stewart manor use elmonts?

I agree with above! I grew up in Franklin Square (the part closest to Stewart Manor), and some parts of Stewart Manor are Franklin Square SD and the district is REALLY great!

Re: Stewart Manor
I am not sure about the elementary schools, but some parts go to Sewanhaka HS,which is a decent school. I student taught there and they had really great teachers.

Re: Stewart Manor
I believe the Stewart Manor Country Club has activities, maybe a pool? My friend used to live there - she was Sewanhaka for the HS. Some of the homes are semi-attached (two owners, one on each side). The railroad can get a little loud if you're close (her dishes used to rattle because she was only a couple houses away, but she got used to it). Really nice place to live.

Re: Stewart Manor
I grew up right by covert Avenue..stewart manor is such a beautiful village. You do have the pool..it's really small tho but hey it's a pool!!! Some of the houses are two families...I actually went to St. Anne's in Garden City for a catholic school. I would love to live in Stewart Manor but the taxes are probably high and then on top of it you would send ur kids to a private school.
I do know that if u are in Stewart Manor your kids can go to Stewart Avenue school and that school i hear is excellent!!! I think they got like 100% passing on Ela and in Math it was very high too. I really dont know about sending your kids to sewanahka...it's all about preference!! There are not many houses for sale in stewart manor right now...but i'm sure something good will pop up soon :) good luck!

Re: Stewart Manor
Why not floral park? It's sooo close to Stewart Manor and Garden city. The taxes are higher but the school district is excellent. Plus u have the pool, town police, and sanitation dept. Floral Park is quaint and just a beautiful village!

Re: Stewart Manor
We lived there for three years and loved it! Its only five blocks big and it is Elmont SD with the exception of one side of Fernwood Terrace - they are in Garden City SD. As a village resident, you have access to the SM pool, adjacent to the SM Country Club (you pay to join every summer). They have village police that patrol at night and they hold Easter Egg hunts and Christmas parades in town at the holidays. We had the nicest neighbors and it is very very community oriented and friendly. I loved that you could walk to town, playground and the train. That was huge for us since we both commuted at the time. FM me if you have any other questions.
ETA: taxes were NOT high. We had a single family 1928 dutch colonial and taxes were around $6k I believe.

Re: Stewart Manor
My reception was at the Stewart Manor Country Club and the nearby houses are beautiful. I don't know about house prices, taxes/schools etc. Sorry.

Re: Stewart Manor
Stewart Manor is beautiful. The school district is Elmont Schools. The elementary school is covert avenue school (excellent) and the high school is Sewanhaka. The closest thing to a town pool is the Stewart Manor Country Club.
I live in Floral Park - one town over. You might want to check that out as well.
