I am so upset
I just found out that me or one of my other 1st grade teammates will have to move up to teach 5th grade!!! I was just in school last week and set up my classroom already!!! And to top it all off I am in the middle of an IVF cycle, with transfer next week, so I am not going to be able to move anything, and needless to say I don't need all of this added stress!!! I am so upset I don't know what to do...

Just breath and take it one day at a time! That is all you can do! Hopefully, you have more time and will have pick!

Oh, no. I'm so sorry to hear this and can imagine how stressful that is.
My fingers are crossed for you!! I hope stting up your room so early showed initiative and they won't move you

That stinks especially since you already set up your classroom! How does it work in your district? Does it go by seniority or principal's choice?

In the past when they had to move people around, it was usually principal choice, but who knows what they are going to do, if they go by senority, I am the newest on the team...I just have a bad feeling that its going to be me, and any other year it wouldn't be so bad, but the fact that I have so much going on right now its just not a good time, and needless to say I do not have anything in my classroom right now that I would be able to use in 5th....My mom retired from teaching 1st grade and I inherited all of her things, so I have TONS of things....all for 1st,

Are you close to your principal? If so, you might want to mention what you are going through to him/her and it might influence the decision. I know if I told my principal your situation, it *might* sway him to let me stay.

I would also mention to your principal that you are in the middle of IVF.
if you are the one to move - make sure that the custodians do ALL the moving!

that really stinks.
but remember that even if you don't have control over this decision you do have control over how you react to it.
i got stuck with a change a couple years ago that I did not want. looking back I think it would have gone a lot smoother had I handled it differently.
fingers crossed that it doesn't happen.
also, i don't know if you are contemplating talking to the principal about your personal issues, but that has definitely worked with my principal. that's actually how I got switched instead of someone else a few years back!!!
